Open carried for the first time

While waiting for my ccw permit I decided I wanted to try out my holster and so I figured I'd open carry . . . from my condo to my complex mailbox. :). About 50 yards. And of course I saw a neighbor. Lots of blue haireds. She remarked and said I thought you were a lawyer!? Obviously thinking I looked like a plain clothes officer with suit but no jacket on. I said I am lawyer and she was left with a puzzled look on her face. Can't wait for the next board meeting!! These people will spend hours complaining about how the grass is cut. Cant wait to see how fast word spreads about me walking around with a gun.

That, right there, tells me you probably shouldn't be carrying a gun.

And a lawyer that advocates talking to the police when not required to do so (in another thread), as well. Betcha' he's a prosecuting attorney!

Hey....Rich_S...I think we found your brother! I would not doubt that you and Mojo57 are conjoined!

Good old USA Carry, where people who post threads are attacked instantly.

"Warm" welcome aside, sounds like you had a pleasant open carry experience Mojo

cool

Open carry is enjoyable so is concealed I see no problem with either. The more armed citizens the better.

Huh, Treo? This makes sense how? I was being sarcastic if it wasn't clear. I'm well aware of the gossiping old people around here. I'm certain will be worthy of discussion to some.

I don't practice criminal law. Much more money to be made doing what I do. Yep, I advocate doing what our licensing body teaches us we should do. I make no apologies for that. I'm quite educated about the law and trust me I know a lot more than you probably do so as to keep me on the right side of it.

I prefer not to disclose my location any further than ky. I clearly have made no friends on this board. In fact I feel more hostility from self righteous chest thumpers here than I do anywhere else. I'll probably go back to my boating message forums. The comradere is much more satisfying.

Don't let it get you down. We are slowly training Treo. At least the troll accusation didn't come out. Fear not, Treo will be having lunch with G50AE in no time if this crap keeps up. Treo can't admit that he's in Darwin's waiting room so it's a superiority game.

Good luck with the next board meeting. You're now going to be assigned as "the nut is unit xxx" but it is step one. Thanks for the post.

Stick around... defending rights is more important than making friends.

Before I received my permit, I open carried everywhere. Most normally I never notices any foul looks. If I were dressed in slacks and a nice shirt, I often was mistaken for a LEO.

Yes please stick around, at least you did not talk about all your back up weapons and how you had to defend your motherin law's car because some mope told you to f off!!. Like some TROLL from another thread.
Good luck to you and carry often, ccw or o.c. what ever works best for you

Thanks all. Would really like to be a positive contributor to the forum. I don't tolerate closed minded people well who can't open their eyes to other points of view. Seems to be alot of that here. Or the I'm right you're wrong crowd. I look to this forum as I do my boating forum as a place to learn and gain knowledge. Those that act like the know it alls that shut newbies down are doing a disservice to the majority. In fact, one complaint I often hear from non gun owners is the fear of the subculture involved. Like at some gun shops I go to that make the average person feel like an outsider. Honestly, I have recently thought about opening up a gun store and range that specifically caters to people that want to feel comfortable. An upscale place that is friendly and inviting. Not the mean guys who stare you down from behind the counter and act like you don't belong. Might be my million dollar idea.

Like the gun store idea. I frequent the ones around Lexington often. Most of the people who work there are morally in a foul mood, or short with answers, etc. I understand that dealing with the public, you are going to have bad days. You are not the first person to mention that. I will and have taken my business to other stores, due to employee attitude.

I know what you mean.. there is a guy just like that posting on a thread about informing police officers in Kentucky.

H&H Gun Range in Oklahoma City. They have a snack bar/sandwich shop right there too. You can go in, rent about a hundred different guns to shoot at the range there, buy the one you settle on, and have lunch, all in one place! They doubled in size in the 3 years I was stationed there.

Yep, knew Navy would come and do his shtick. Anyone with half a brain will see in that post that I never said what was right or wrong. Instead I pointed out what was taught while recognizing the law. You on the other hand can't let it go in your attempt to convince everyone you are right to not notify because the statute doesnt require it. Your "I'm right mentally" blossoms from the majority of your posts. You refuse to acknowledge the reasonableness of another view point in line with the teachings of the ccw course. So beit Navy.

ARE YOU GUYS NOT LISTENING??? Maybe because you don't have the state handbook you are simply uninformed. Getting your ccw in Kentucky teaches you to INFORM. You're taught specifically what to do regardless of express statutory law just like 90% of the rest of the course. YOU'RE TAUGHT WHAT TO DO regardless of a particular statute. You guys are simply advocating not doing what trained instructors and the department of justice teaches you to do. Andi think that's idiotic. They teach that for a reason and I'm sure passing the course means youre expecting to abide by the teaching. The test doesn't say, do you don't have to inform if you don't want to. It SAYS IMFORM.

I rest my case, counselor. Although, you never claimed that you, personally were right. You merely stated that everybody was wrong who would choose not follow a RECOMMENDATION put forth in a GOVERNMENT training document.

There are a lot of GOVERNMENT recommendations that I don't follow.

Great post Mojo. And yes, there are the few that must insert their mindless mouth diarrhea in their attempts to prove they know more than everybody else on every single topic that comes up on this site. Their posts are usually non constructive and horribly insultive. But stick it out for a while, there is some useful info offered every now and again. Easier said than done but don't feed the trolls!! :D They'll just keep feeding!!

Geez you can't let it go can you? That's right, that was my opinion stated loud and clear to you because you kept telling everyone how there is NO reason to notify. And I pointed out that there is a reason. Whether you chose to break those type of regulations is your business. Honestly I hope you do and I hope it creates more headaches for you then you can tolerate.

You are lawyer?!? You don't know the difference between a regulation and a recommendation?!? Oh my gawd! Nobody in that thread was choosing to break a regulation, Mr. Lawyer.

I hope none of your clients read this. That's just incompetence from a lawyer, plain and simple.

Since you claim that it is a regulation, tell us what the penalty is for violating the regulation, Mr. Lawyer.

That's the problem with people like you..... you feel like you must do everything the government tells you to.
