online gun class.

Has anyone heard of the onlinegunclass.com? If you have, is it legit? I know it's out of Virginia but I live in a different state. How does that work? Just curious to know? Thanks. Sorry I'm new to this. I see this topic has been discussed already on some posts. I tried to delete this. Once again, sorry.

Why stop with online gun classes? How about online medical degrees, online pilot licenses--the list is endless. Look at all the time we can save? Just sit at your computer and you can be whatever you ever wanted to be. Heck, we might as well have online president degrees--couldn't do any worse than what we have now.

Why not? My daughter is working on her masters degree in European History online from the American Military University. She works her arse off.

So, From reading just a bit I see a way to legally carry a concealed handgun in my home state of West Virginia. I am a resident of Texas (retired US Military) and have a Texas CCP but have family in West Virginia which doesn't recognize a Texas permit.

Reading Link Removed I see the reason. Quoting:
On the flip side of the coin, the are many gaps and deficiencies in our licensing criteria that have resulted in at least 4 states--Minnesota, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin--deeming West Virginia's licensing standards inadequate under their standards for establishing reciprocity. Stop Quoting.
But .... I can get a Non-Resident Virginia CCP which allows me to carry not only in Texas but also in West Virginia.

Something is wrong....

Why would ANYONE take an online gun course? Gunsmithing, maybe... If anyone is NRA Certified and teaches any gun glass that isn't in person, the NRA will revoke your credentials. Don't do it.

OK I went to far on my analogy in my dig on our vaunted king. But c'mon now, big difference between non-life threatening academics and say being a pilot or a doctor or even carrying a firearm and knowing how to use it properly within the law. It amazes me how "touchy" we can get by wordsmithing sarcastic comments to their last vowel. You really believed that I meant to discredit your daughter?

Where did I say that you meant to discredit my daughter? Talk about being "touchy."

The website said that it came with a "certificate of completion", In Michigan the course has to "comply with section 5J Public act 372 of 1927" and be a program certified by the State of Michigan or state firearms training organization with at least 30 rounds of ammuntion fired during training. I myself would not waste the money on this.

Any certificate from an ON LINE gun course is not worth the paper it is written on. And it is worthless for achieving CCW status in FLorida.

NRA put out a memo to instructors explicitly prohibiting the use of NRA credentials or reference to being a NRA instructor when advertising online classes. If you check out the website, you will see that the instructors on the site are clearly in violation of NRA policy.

Anyone who is defending an online gun class for a CCWP, regardless of ridiculous state law that might allow same has their head in the sand and refuses to accept the obvious. How much explanation does anyone need to realize that looking on a computer and answering questions is far removed from walking around with a concealed and loaded firearm. So you get a piece of paper to frame and put up on your wall. Send me your money, I'll give you the names of several good books on firearms and also be glad to send you a framed certificate.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with satisfying the CLASSROOM requirements for a CCW license, but that certainly doesn't meet the range requirements.

I think you mean All American Firearms Training ...so how does the money back guarantee work...does your next of kin send in a copy of the death certificate.

The only thing i see on this site is somebody trying to sell me " Bullet Earrings". However, said earrings are made from spent "Casings and Shells", i have yet to see one made from a "Bullet".

Seriously, dont get your firearms trainning through these "World Class" Clowns. They cant even get the terminology right, and you seriously believe that anybody is going to honor that certificate!? Local training with Certified Instructors ( NRA Preferably) is the way to go.

Stop looking for the "Quick" way to get things done, and do it the proper way. With hard work, practice, and for God's sake some Brain power.

Hey flacoromeo, I wanted to let you know that I have actually taken the class and will be getting my ccw permit soon. I heard about onlinegunclass.com on a different forum and saw a bunch of good reviews so I took the class. It actually had some good info in the class and it did meet the training requirement for me to get my permit. I don't know what state you live in, but the class works for residents of Texas, Ohio, North Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Arkansas. They list all those states on their home page. So, if you live in one of those states, I'd recommend taking the online class. It's completely legal, and who cares about the people out there who complain about online classes. There are plenty of states that don't even require you to tale any class in order to exercise your 2nd amendment rights (like Vermont). So many of us have grown up with guns and hunting, and I think it's great that now there's an option to take a class in your own home in order to get your permit from the states that require classes to be able to carry concealed. There's always people out there who like to judge others, and to them I say "take an in-person class if you want to, for me I like to have options."

All fine and dandy for you, however per NRA Policy, NRA Certified Instructors cannot advertise online classes that are in any way connected to NRA, nor can they use their NRA credentials when advertising an online class. After checking out their webpage, I notice that the site mentioned earlier in this thread is in direct violation of NRA policy. It is only a matter of time before NRA catches up with them. Regardless of what happens between NRA and the guys running the online classes, I wouldn't train with them out of principle. How can I have confidence in an instructor who would so blatantly violate established NRA Policy? Makes me wonder what other policies, laws, etc. the man is violating and in turn passing info to me that would cause me to be in violation as well.

Here in VA people use them all the time (there's a couple of them). You have to make sure your states accepts them as they are not NRA approved classes. But if your state doesn't require live fire it shouldn't matter. They weren't quick to embrace them here. Many Counties said no way, until they were forced to accept them. There basically videos that can't be skipped fast fwd'd, window closed and can't research while doing them, then a test like any other safety course, I've actually got on of the video, they go over everything a safety class would in person.

He's not violating anything, He only has the NRA Business Alliance logo, which has nothing to do with the class. There are MANY NRA alliance Businesses that have nothing to do with giving training. As long as he doesn't state that the class is NRA approved, he's doing nothing wrong. Many of the guys running these sites ARE NRA Instructors that do give NRA classes in real life as well as the online stuff. As long as they don't give out a NRA cert, or say that they will. There violating no policy.
