One Year into New Primetime Lineup, Fox News Continues Ratings Dominance

By: Al Weaver

After 18 years on the air, Fox News looks to be stronger than ever.

Who owns the cable ratings these days? Why, that would continue to be Fox News

Exactly one year into their new primetime lineup, Fox News is dominating the ratings in news, while also becoming one of the highest rated networks in all of cable.

Fox News has ranked among the top five highest-rated networks 96 percent of the time, Nielsen Media Research reports. They’ve also cracked the top three 82 percent of the time as well.

Much of that success can be attributed to the addition of the “Kelly File,” which took over for “Hannity” in the 9 p.m. slot.

Kelly’s program, while averaging 2.5 million viewers nightly through its first year, has delivered greatly for the network, bringing forth the most growth of any cable news program, while increasing its viewership since its debut last October.

In the last quarter, Kelly has ticked up 36 percent in total viewers and 27 percent in the demo (25-54 demographic), according to Nielsen.

And on top of that, Fox News has been the number one rated news source for 14 of those 18 years on the air against all of the other news source programs.

Does anyone really believe the stuff they make up on Fox? Zombie invasion next?

Fox is dedicated to the ultra rich and appeals to the paranoid sickos.

Who knew that the people who watch the most TV watch Fox News. I wonder what books they don't read.

Journalism today, especially in the mainstream media, is nothing more than an appendage of the entertainment industry. I imagine that their ratings are so high because they are the only big conservative network, while virtually every other station is left-leaning and compete with each other.

I've looked long and hard for an unbiased, informational news source and yet have found none; because of this I browse many different sources a little bit at a time. I'm taking recommendations for good ones if anybody has any.
