One step closer to a Police state

This ruling by the Courts is a slap in the face of the Constitution. "Alito stressed that residents do not have to open their door to police, but if they generate suspicious noises inside, they create grounds for officers to enter." So basically if the Police surprise you by slamming on your front door, if you make any sounds they find "suspicious" they can kick the door in.

What if I my being startled while cleaning my shotgun makes me knock something over. Is that "suspicious"? You know it won't turn out well if they bust in the door and see me armed. Just a thought.

Exigent circumstances is what Alito is referring to about already known drug dealers and trying to hide the eveidence, which is a horse of another color than the recent ruling on "modern day jurisprudence" of the 4th amendment by Indiana courts.
PS. Link doesn't work.

Kicking my door may cause harm or death to those doing so, not to mention the two attack dogs.

Seems a pretty "open excuse" for going in unwarrented.

On the other hand, in home defence drill scenarios one assumes that the BG(s) are NOT going to knock, but the LEO will. Giving you the option of "fire or no fire", "open or no open" as events develop.

If the Police merely kick down the door without warning, admittedly a small probability of ever happening, but.... still, it gives the homeowner no time except to panic and go for the hardware. This is a bad nightmare that will, in a universe of endless possibilities, eventually happen.

At that time the anti gunners will launch a campaign to ban guns from private homes.... for the purpose of the safety of LEOs in the commission of their duty. (Utterly predictable.)

It's happening everywhere: http://bit.ly/l6prl8 And it's pretty disgusting that you can't refuse entry to a police officer WITHOUT A WARRANT in some areas, and that they don't have to knock before entering if they do have one. That's a "news at 11" moment waiting to happen around here. I find it disgusting. I expected more out of state supreme courts and CERTAINLY more out of the highest court in our land.
