The House Judiciary and Public Safety Committee easily passed House Bill 2513, which would allow those 21 and above to carry concealed weapons onto campus if they were licensed. But college and university presidents are opposed. Friday the Council of Presidents unanimously approved a resolution agreeing the bill would "make our college and university campuses less safe and secure, putting our students, faculty, staff and visitors at risk."

The next step will be for the bill to be heard on the House floor.

To obtain a concealed weapon permit in Oklahoma one must complete training that includes eight hours of classroom instruction and practive at a gun range.
