Which will provide for Constitutional carry without a permit in OK. The full name of the act is "The Piers Morgan Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms Without Infringement Act." Here is a link to the text of the bill: http://webserver1.lsb.state.ok.us/cf_pdf/2013-14 INT/SB/SB1473 INT.PDF

Go Sooners!!!

Make sure your legislators know you support the bill and EXPECT them to as well!

Good substantive proposal, childish reference to Morgan. All it does is give Pierce Morgan satisfaction that he has rent free space in that legislators head.

But more importantly, when is OK going to get ride of the unconstitutional prohibition on carrying firearms in government buildings? Instead of being manipulated by Pierce Morgan the OK legislature should clean up its own house of unconstitutional laws.

I live here in OK. I meet so many people that think this bill is a bad idea. Most don't like the idea of an untrained 18 year old with a gun. Their are some SDA instructors complaining about people needing safety training. I believe they are afraid of losing some money. (I am not one)

Here's more fuel to use when the naysayers get in your face:

But that same 18yo can go to any gun shop and purchase an AR-15... this is okay though, right?

The 18 yo argument is a null argument in my opinion since that same 18 yo can purchase much higher powered firearms than handguns.

Also, we allow 16 yo the ability to possess 2 ton weapons and operate them at high rates of speed. They are called vehicles.

If an 18 yo can serve his/her country and die for it, if an 18 yo is considered mature enough to vote, then why is this same 18 yo not allowed to protect and defend him/herself?

A broken clock displays the correct time twice a day. Everybody is an untrained person with a firearm in their hands at least once.

KISS Keep it Simple Stupid

The law has some complications in it. Instead of a lot of words. Just say anyone can carry a firearm or other weapon openly without defining how. State that this a right not a priviledge.

Other laws are in place to handle issues of misuse or abuse of the right.

I just got back from a gun show in OK City. Again most of the people I talked to are against it. Training being the reason. Gun shops that do training are the main ones bitching. It seems some people don't want others to be free if its going to cost them something. When I moved here I new it was a little backward but it seems so backward that people don't realize what freedom is. Very sad.

So Dahm went on the show with Piers Morgan, and once again, Morgan got owned. As usual, Morgan agrees that only the military should have assault weapons. Dahm's Act is based on Title 44 of Oklahoma's laws, which defines the state military: the OK National Guard, the OK State Guard, and the unorganized militia, which includes all able-bodied citizens between the ages of 17-69. So under state law, the unorganized militia being part of the state's military structure, all able-bodied citizens can legally own assault weapons.

That is the approach we need to take here in Michigan as well. Under MCL 32.509, Michigan has a four branch military: the army national guard, the national air guard, the "defense force" (which only exists when specifically called up and organized), and the unorganized militia which, similar to OK, includes all able-bodied citizens between the ages of 17-60. Under Michigan law, we as the unorganized militia are also part of the state military apparatus and should also have full access to assault weapons.
