May be going to CO for a few months to do some tower work. I understand the Honored/Not-Honored just fine but it's this that's getting me

Res Permits Only:
Colorado, Florida, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, South Carolina

I did a search for Colorado and read a bunch of the post and saw most saying states honor their permit, or have law printed and carry with, but a couple said if your state honors Colorado, they'll honor yours.

If it's not Honored and it's not Not-Honored, then what is it? I've been unable for find specific law that I can follow. It appears Florida is the same but I've seen that Utah and Florida are the two non-resident permits to get....

what it means is that CO honors permits issued to FLA residents, FLA issues permits to non residents of FLA and those permits will not be acceptable to carry concealed in CO

This is the actual Colorado Statute:

TITLE 18. CRIMINAL CODE
ARTICLE 12. OFFENSES RELATING TO FIREARMS AND WEAPONS
PART 2. PERMITS TO CARRY CONCEALED HANDGUNS
C.R.S. 18-12-213 (2012)
18-12-213. Reciprocity

(1) A permit to carry a concealed handgun or a concealed weapon that is issued by a state that recognizes the validity of permits issued pursuant to this part 2 shall be valid in this state in all respects as a permit issued pursuant to this part 2 if the permit is issued to a person who is:
(a) Twenty-one years of age or older; and
(b) (I) A resident of the state that issued the permit, as demonstrated by the address stated on a valid picture identification that is issued by the state that issued the permit and is carried by the permit holder; or
(II) A resident of Colorado for no more than ninety days, as determined by the date of issuance on a valid picture identification issued by Colorado and carried by the permit holder.
(2) For purposes of this section, a "valid picture identification" means a driver's license or a state identification issued in lieu of a driver's license.

So my Arkansas permit would not be good in Colorado

If you are resident of Arkansas, possessing an Arkansas Driver's License, Arkansas ID Card, or military ID and permanent orders to Arkansas, then your Arkansas permit will be valid in Colorado. If you possess a non-resident Florida or Utah permit as an Arkansas resident, neither the non resident Florida or Utah permit will be valid.

Ok, kewl. I've read it so many times that I've convinced myself that my license isn't good. For some reason I cannot read some without over analyzing it if it's very important. They should just classify CO as Honored since it is according to their statute.

The map on this site does a very good job of showing where your permit will be honored. Arkansas is a great state to have because with it you are legal in 40 states! I have MN and a FL non-resident and will be legal in 36 states. Wish Illinois would pass something so I can carry there. I have family there and go there often.

why wouldn't it be? as long as you are a resident of Arkansas CO will honor that permit.

I was confused about the Resident Only part in yellow. Had it just said Honored or Not Honored then it wouldn't have been a biggie.

It's the actual map that confused the stuffins out of me. I know everything in green is "honored", everything in red is "not-honored" then there's a "Res Permits Only". I didn't know if that meant that it only honored CO residents, and if so, why wouldn't it be on the "Not Honored" list. Then I was trying to cypher out why if it wasn't on the "not honored" list, why wasn't it on the "honored" list?

If it's not honored and it's not not-honored... then what is "Res Permits Only"??? Has been driving me crazy to say the least.

some states like FLA issue permits to people who are not residents of FLA, states like CO do not honer those permits, CO only honors the permits issued to residents of the state who issued the permit. It shouldn't be confusing.
as long as you live in the state that issued your permit you'd be ok to carry in CO, if you have a non resident permit from a state like FLA your permit would not honored in CO
