"I screamed as loud as I could, 'get off my porch. I have a gun. I will shoot you.' And he stayed at the door," explained Collins. "I'm like, 'Get off my porch. I have a gun. I will shoot you.' He didn't move, so I opened the door and there he was standing 5 inches from the barrel of a loaded .357."


Toledo Police arrested Kyle Caldwell, who's 31 and from Temperance, Michigan.


Collins says she didn't shoot him after what happened not far away on Douglas last month.
A homeowner there shot and killed a 24-year-old who was also attempting to get inside.
Instead of spending the night in the hospital, or worse, Caldwell is spending the night in jail.

Meantime, Collins says she'll be resting easier inside of the place she's called home the past 13 years.

"I'm not moving. This is my home," said Collins "That's what the second amendment's for. I'm going to continue to protect my home."

Awesome, she stand her ground now if more of this would happen hopefully this will happen less, but I don't think so.

Glad that she stood her ground but jesus, with muzzle awareness like that, she's lucky she didn't shoot herself. She needs to take a few more gun safety courses.

She holds her revolver like a semi. I hope she never blows a chunk of her finger or thumb off.

Despite that, kudos that she was the victor and not the victim in this case.

Glad it all turned out okay for her, and always glad to see another dirtball put in the slammer. BUT... Even rudimentary training is obviously lacking here. This could have ended very badly for her. Why open the door and put yourself within "5 inches" of an attacker? She's lucky that pistol wasn't snatched out of her hands. She was much safer armed and ready inside her home. She put her life (and possibly the lives of any other people in her home) at much greater risk by opening the door and immediately placing herself and her firearm in such close proximity to the intruder. I'm also not sure what the law in Ohio says about shooting an unarmed person on your porch, under the circumstances as described here, either. That would not be a lawful shoot in some places.
