The residents of the city are working on a recall petition to fire and mayor and entire city council for allowing this to go unpunished.

Chief Of Police needs punched in the throat, IMHO, and the officer who shot be charged with felony endangerment and animal cruelty and jailed, after their firings, of course.

There would have been two(2) shots heard at the least.
His shot at my dog, then my shot into his chest..
My dogs bark. They are not violent and from the video, I saw zero threat to the pig who pulled the trigger...
If you do watch the video, make sure you watch it to the very end!
The cop has some "words of wisdom" to impart upon another cop showing up...
The cop should be fired then charged with animal cruelty.
Then, the owner of the dog should kick the former cops ass all over town (and back again!)
Just sayin.... Ya know?
YMMV

OK. First off, animal control should have been there for the call. Second, and I say this as a service dog owner, those dogs are always supposed to be under control. Yes, they are given time to play like any other dog, but they are always to be under control. A service dog can be refused entrance to a business if it is not under the control of the owner, and I'm willing to bet that Flier, Idaho, also has ordinances about controlling dogs, meaning that this man was in violation of service dog protocols AND city ordinances. The video clearly shows that at least one of the dogs left the owner's property and went into the road to the driver's side of the cruiser to meet the officer. The owner himself stated that he had difficulty keeping his dogs in his yard, so it is not illogical to think that the dogs left the yard other times as other people passed by the yard and may have called in complaints.

Having said this, the officer also had options, and he chose not to exercise them. There is no indication that he called for animal control, nor does it appear that he called for backup. He waded into a situation that should have been a misdemeanor nuisance call and turned it into a civil suit. He took an aggressive stance with animals that are protective by nature; his gun was drawn from the moment he exited the cruiser according to the video. His approach and language with the dog owner was beyond acceptable.

One other possible consideration: the officer's name is Tarek Hassani. If he is a practicing muslim, then he already has a religious aversion to dogs, which are unclean in Islam.

Long story short, there is plenty of blame to go around, but none of it would have happened if the owner had exercised proper control of his dogs.

BTW, a dog wagging its tail doesn't automatically mean it is happy or friendly,http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...ail-wags-really-mean-some-new-scientific-data.

I watched the video and can not belive what I saw ! That cop should not only be fired but go to jail and I hope his cell mate is called brucie - bubba .

Are you all anti cop or pro douche bag?

Control your dogs. On a chain or behind a fence you might make your argument seem less stupid.

My dogs are leashed and restrained at all times. Yes I said all times, I do understand some people are not dog people.
My dogs are small Bischon's and they love to bark! One is an ankle biter so we hold onto her when around strangers.
I am well versed in animal behavior and I can read the signs of danger.
The video did not have audio(?) when I saw the pig (aka douchebag cop), get out of his vehicle. He said the dog was "growling" at him when he stepped out of his car. That was not on audio so I can neither confirm or deny his statement.
All I saw where two dogs, tails wagging, greet the pig (aka douchebag), as he stepped out of his car.
His is then shown kicking at one of the dogs, (tail STILL wagging mind you), just before he shoots it.
His final comments about "not gettin bit, so phuck yeah I shot it!", are telling in and of itself.
And just for your information, I am major anti-pig and I think he's a douchebag as well.
Hope that helps "straighten things out" for ya!

Here you go. With audio.

Cop shoots service dog during kid's birthday part…: http://youtu.be/1O9GmUcp0Mo

There are no happy tail wagging dogs in this video. The guy chose to not control his dog so it was controlled for him.

My dogs are never just running around unsupervised. I have been cornered too many times by someone's precious fido to believe the whole "they won't hurt anyone" bullcrap.

Like I said, on a chain, on a leash, in your fenced yard, I don't care what your dog does. Let them run free, what happens to them is on you.

Edit
Ooh yeah, the title of the video....... service dog my a$$.

I have a German Shepard, 87 lbs female. SHE IS NEVER allowed to free leash except in a dog park that is fenced in. She's sweet, lovable to us. Anyone else, just not sure so why be liable for other peoples safety. Plus I do not want some LEO or armed citizen putting holes in her because she's charging them out of playing or being defensive. Her PIC is on my wall.
My neighbor lets his mutt run free. When questioned about it he just said he's been living here some 20 years. Like that gives him rights. I told him his dog has no rights on my property. Which didn't settle well but we haven't had a conversation since. (Fine by me)
Most everyone believes their dog doesn't bite. Yeah, right. Old Pink Panther movie does that mentally right. Be a responsible dog owner or not. I'll plug Lassie in a NY heartbeat if she charges me, Timmy be dammed.

Notice how the chief defended the action with the "officer safety" rule. Shooting my dog will put them in more danger....from me.

I could give the cops something to shoot for if they want. How about I turn a half dozen rottys or pits loose on them and see if they can speed shoot very good. After they pee their pants perhaps they can go change their underwear.

This dog was walking up to him for a sniff and wagging his tail. Cops have not only begun smelling like pigs again they have become killers under color of authority.

Oh yeah...the chief looked just like a fat little piggy didn't he?

Cops want my admiration...eat crap.

My dog does not carry a gun, my dogs will attack and destroy anyone violating their space, you shoot at my dog, he will be feeding on your corpse.
