Off to my CCW certification course this morning.

Today I begin the process. I will update this thread as I move along. Today is CCW certification training, next I have to file with the sheriff's office. Then I will have my CCW permit.... Wish me luck

May we have a little information regarding your experience in the process? I think one of the biggest would be the state and county where you are going through this.

Being in New Jersey it often makes my laugh how horrible this state is and how easy it is elsewhere for CCW.

yes best wishes, here in florida the class a second grader probably could have passed. but the turn around time varies depending on if you mail it to tallahassee which seems to take forever and a day/90 days or by going into a dept of agriculture office in person and the turn around can be as little as ten days
me not knowing better at the time mailed mine to tallahassee so i probably have about two more months wait

Florida ONLY requires proof of firearms safety training, a minimally intrusive requirement to exercise a Constitutionally protected right. As a RESPONSIBLE ADULT true self defense firearms training is your responsibility to acquire.

True proficiency does not come from any beginners class, I've been carrying firearms professionally for 30+ years and I'm still a student of the gun. You don't stop learning till you're dead.

OP, good luck with your class and I sincerely hope it's just your first.

Mine was printed 1 week after they got the paperwork and was back a week after that. Friend sent his in about a month ago and it was back in two weeks. Depends on your background check.

When i got my CCW in Oregon I had to take a safety and proficiency exam before I could apply for my CCW. When I moved to Mississippi all I had to do was fill out my paperwork and do the finger print thing and wait 3 months to get my CCW.

I am in North Carolina. The course was pretty straight forward. About and hour of draw, sight and dry fire instruction. Followed by 20-30 minutes of live fire, 50 rounds, on an indoor range at 3, 5, and 7 yards. Then 5 hours of lecture and instruction in a classroom setting, lunch and another 1.5 to 2 hours of legal videos. Two open book and open discussion (could not fail) tests... Now I have to meet with my county sheriff face to face to go through the application process. I am about to leave a message with the person I need to meet with to schedule my meeting.

Good Luck sir. I just received my non resident ccw from NH,AZ and both were within 60 days. In Ohio from class to card was about 30 days,but that was 4 years ago.

Mine would have been 2 months instead of 3 however I never received the notification and had to call for another.

Sheriff's department returned my call on Monday...

My county requires me to meet with the sheriff in charge of CCW permits just to apply. So I left a message for them to schedule a meeting on Saturday. I got a call back pretty early Monday morning. But I was told there is a 6 week lead time and I could not apply until Mid-September. Then after that the application process could take up to 90 days. Hmph. It is what it is I guess...
