Open Carry or CC to Your Heart's Content in Arizona

You can carry anyway you choose in Arizona. Last Thursday Arizona SB 1108 became law. This is the so-called Constitutional Carry Law. Under this law, any non-felon adult (21 years) can carry a gun in Arizona open, concealed, or anywhere in a vehicle. You still need a permit do carry where alcohol is served or for reciprocity with other states. There are, of course, a few typically prohibited places (polling places, etc.). Arizona joins Vermont and Alaska as the third state with constitutional carry. This is a BIG Second Amendment victory.

Hello, everyone!

I joined this site just so I could answer the question above. I am an Arizona CCW trainer, and just received the revised training materials that include "Constitutional Carry."

Anyone within the boundaries of our state, as long as they are U.S. Citizens or legal U.S. residents may carry concealed in our great state. They have always been able to carry openly.

Constitutional Carry is not so much a new law, but the removal from the books of the old law prohibiting cc.

Carrying concealed by felons and other prohibited possessors, as well as those carrying out or intending to carry out a crime are still breaking the law.

I hope this clears things up.

All legal U.S. residents CAN still obtain an Arizona CCW permit, which gives them three main advantages:

  • They can carry in states that have reciprocal agreements with Arizona
  • They can carry concealed in restaurants with liquor licenses (if they haven't posted "no firearms), and
  • They can bypass the Brady background check on firearms purchases

Invitation

I agree. All freedom loving people are hereby invited to join us here in Arizona. We want you all to come and settle in the nation's free-est state, and help counteract the effects of liberal Californians who are fleeing the effects of California-style liberalism and coming here to repeat their effects here! :fie:

Question you can open carry except where alcohol is served by drink or can unless you have concealed carry?? I am a little confused can you carry in a bar or food establishment openly or do you need a CCW license?? Thanks in advance.

Arizona is one of the few states where you MUST conceal carry walking into an establishment that serves alcohol, and you must have a permit to do so.

I love living in AZ, I OC everyday all over the state. In fact I have OC'ed in 5 states in the past year. I have not had one negitive LEO encounter and asked to leave only 1 place of business. I have CWP and do CC when the occasion warrents, but 95% is OC.

We can thank the efforts of the AZCDL for the Consitutional Carry, they really carried the water.

Real progressive state Arizona, despite what the liberals think about their new immigration codes, and the California imports trying to remake it into the image of where they just escaped from..... Been there multiple times and plan on a trip there before summers end.

You can carry a firearm in any establishment in the state of Arizona, although if posted No Weapons/Firearms Allowed you must abide by this ruling, If you are caught you will be arrested and fined. Arizona is the third state to be able to carry concealed without a Weapons Permit, and Arizona has always been an open carry state.

Doc: I believe the law is you must be 21 years of age and pass the back ground check at the DPS to purchase a firearm. I would say most likely 99% of the people have a DL and those who do not, have an official identification for proof of age. I have a Retired Military Identification and a DL either will work.
