My local ABC affiliate actually posted that a bill in Oklamhoma allows anyone to carry anywhere and they can even conceal.

In their favor they corrected it when I called them on it.

This is why smart people are skeptical about anything reported in the media. I don't know how many times I've heard or read, "Stand Your Ground Laws allow you to shoot if you feel afraid or threatened," when this is clearly NOT the standard for using deadly force.

Not exactly on topic for the thread but, I think it's been years since the media even pretended they didn't have an agenda

I would definitely like to hear some discussion on open carry retention holsters of choice. I have my preferences and top picks for good concealment, but being new to open carry and with holsters going for $60-125 I'd like to have a head start. In addition, if anyone knows of any previous threads of the same topic and could post a link I'd appreciate it.

I carry in a Fobus paddle holster with no problems:

This is one thing I'm already not liking about open carry in Oklahoma, Muskogee Sheriff Charles Pearson said about ten times in an article they will be checking permits when they see open carry. And the following is from NewsOK.com......... Midwest City police will check for permits when they encounter someone openly carrying a gun, Assistant Chief Sid Porter said.
“When public safety comes up, that is No. 1,” Porter said. “If we see someone carrying a weapon in a holster, they have to have a permit on them and would be asked to show it. Anybody with a weapon on their side is considered a suspicious person.”

To me they are passing this law and only licensed CCW holders can open carry, I believe if you are doing nothing wrong they shouldn't have to ask to see your permit, just my opinion

To stop a person and check for a permit only because a person is lawfully carrying a gun will be illegal and grounds for lawsuits against the offending officers/municipalities. This is well established case law. The stop must be on the grounds of a criminal act. In other words, the officers would have to articulate a reasonable suspicion that the person they stopped was KNOWN to NOT have a permit AND was carrying a gun. It's just like a driver's license - they can't do random stops of people doing absolutely nothing wrong to check for a driver's license only. Now, if the vehicle registered owner is known to have a suspended driver's license, and the person driving the vehicle matches the description of the registered owner, THEN a stop to check for a driver's license only might be legal - but there must be some articulable suspicion that a crime is being committed to make a stop lawful. They are just blowing smoke unless they really want to get their butts handed to them by judges in the courts.

That's why it is vitally important that as many people take advantage of open carry in OK as possible - to educate the ignorant - both in and out of uniform.
