"We live in a democracy, and at the end of the day, I can't do this all by myself under our democratic system," he said.

I do not want to sound bitchy but if I do, maybe I am...I don't know what to say. No, I take that back...I know what to say but I won't say it. Not this time.

If you think about what he said and the current state in Congress you might understand what he's saying. He needs to work around the obstructionists who would rather have our Country fail than raise taxes on the wealthy. Haven't we had enough Republican Snake Oil. He needs the American people to tell Congress to stop playing politics and fix the mess they have gotten us in. Rather than work together to make what some call a "Washington Deal" they will look out for their own interests and end Democracy in this Country for their own agenda.

It took me a minute to wrap my head around what you have said here. The current state our congress is in is because of Obama. The "obstructionists" you are talking about are the ones who are trying to bring our country back to solvency. The real obstructionists are the Democratic liberals who are helping the Pied Piper lead us to the loss of our country. This president has all but bankrupted this country with his ineptness and general lack of qualifications for his position. It sounds like you have had too much of the KoolAid from the mindless minions who would follow such a person. The only people I can see who are following him are the ones with their hands out for the government dole and illegal aliens who are taking advantage of our system to the detriment of all Americans. This is exactly what he wants..everyone dependent on the government for all of their needs. Obama has managed to work his way around congress too much already. If he does it anymore, you will have plenty of time to rue your support of this charlatan but little hope for this country ever being great again. As for raising taxes, don't you realize the people and corporations who would pay more taxes would extract that money from you and the rest of us through loss of jobs and rising costs? You had better stop and rethink your position on Obama before everything falls down around your ears.

The only work Obama has ever done is use the word, he has sucked the American T for to long. No skill set, No talent except for speech. Never produced a job, never produced an income for other folks, never made a payroll.

The simple truth here that you need to wrap your "head" around is that continuing to blame the President for inaction when the standard answer is my way or nothing, is that attempting solvency without raising taxes will not only lead to the continuing collapse of our economy but the eventual collapse our Country. Obamas stimulus rescued us from the brink of a a major depression while the Republicans have stalled the recovery and almost drove us to default. Tax cuts and an unpaid war put us on the road to disaster and the continued obstructionism will complete the task. It's time to quit believing that you can have something for nothing, raise taxes and get on with restoring the greatest Country on earth. BTW there is no Santa Claus, Easter Bunny or Democratic Liberal Boogeyman.

Owebama "I'd like to work my way around Congress"

This is a continuation of the move toward socialism -giving stuff to those who did not earn it.

The biggest problem here and in Europe is not that too little money is seized from those who earn it, but that too few of us pay our own way.

So take from the rich and give to the poor? Take $$ from those who have because they have worked for it and give to those who have not?

Another Kool-Aid drinking socialist.. No thanks. How about we share what you have with everyone else? What say you?

The "snake oil" the democrats have been selling has gotten us here. Obama's stimulus has added more debt and done nothing for the business climate. Companies taking $$ from the till and going bankrupt... And he would love to go around congress unchecked and get more... So we should all just shut up and give him the combo to the safe? Are you for real?

"It's time to quit believing that you can have something for nothing" That is the general theme...
Taking more from the rich to provide for those who do not have it, is that not exactly that very thing which you rail against? Giving something to someone for nothing, while taking from those who do have something to show for their efforts?

Raising taxes without a plan to reduce spending is absurd... Continuing to spend recklessly and asking for more money to enable that is insanity...

Wow, I can't believe how many people still think raising taxes will fix this.
Sorry, it will not.
The spending has to stop. NOW. Stealing from the rich to give to the poor, is a peter pan book

Al: I think that, very unintentionally, you have hit the nail on the head with the phrase "....my way or nothing." That is exactly the mindset of Obama and that core of Democratic liberals in congress who will not listen to anyone other than themselves. I'm not blaming Obama for inaction, I am blaming him for the things he has done, i.e., healthcare, skirting around congress by using his "czars", the latest scandal with solar energy ($500,000,000), not taking action against illegal aliens, not protecting our southwestern border and the populace there, not insisting something be done about the Black Panthers who were intimidating voters at the polls, joining in a lawsuit with a foreign country against one of our own states. I could go on ad nauseum but any thinking person should be able to see what I mean. His stimulus package was the worst flop in memory. What did it accomplish? You seem to believe that taxes need to be higher. How in hell are people going to pay higher taxes when they don't have jobs? How are you going to create jobs......lower taxes on businesses in order to create jobs. Jobs mean spending, spending means more taxes being paid. By the way, I don't believe I can have something for nothing. Every thing in this world I have has been earned by my own sweat and blood. I have never used food stamps, drawn money for illegitimate children, or just sat on my rear end waiting for the mailman to bring me an unearned sum of money. I also speak English in an English speaking country. If I were to go somewhere else, I would learn that language and contribute to that country. I am all for restoring the greatest country on earth and that is why I will vote against Obama and his minions. I think you will find in 2012 there will be a lot of people who will do the same.

Going around a system put in place to ensure checks and balances are applied to the manner in which a country is run... Hummm, kinda has dictator written all over it...

Like Oldgrunt wrote above... "My way or nothing" has shown itself to be a miserable failure... So now America has decided "OUR WAY OR NOTHING" should be the plan. We are all suffering in this failed and miserable economic situation. Each in our own way. Taking from others to solve this problem is narrow in scope...

I find that interesting coming from a person who lives in one of the most miserable states in the union. The libs including their unions have ruined the state. The highest income and property taxes I have paid ANYWHERE! The schools were as bad as any I have been around. That includes, Indiana, Tennessee (Who is touted as being redneck backwards!) and Missouri. Really??? Raise taxes?? Fix your state first. You haven't been able to do it there by raising taxes. Have you? All you have managed is to have ever viable manufacturer leave the state! What in the world makes you think it would be different if you could raise taxes on us some more?

You do realize that this is the BIGGEST problem in this country... folks believing that they SHOULD have something for nothing... The "something" is everything they need at the expense of everyone else. At what point do you consider that we are paying enough in taxes ? Perhaps we should just have our paychecks sent directly to the IRS and then they can allocate to each according to their needs... a perfect socialist, utopia ruled by the ONE and his hand-picked czars in the ruling class.

Yup... that's the America I was raised to believe in... Don't work hard for what you want - just sit back, watch everyone else work for it and the government will ensure that you are cared for. /sarcasm off

0bama has only carried through on one promise. He said he will unite the people. He has. Both the right and left hate this idiot and only those Koolaid drinkers like alduane can't see how bad he has been for the country. Nearly 3 years after his election all he does is blame Bush or the Republicans. There isn't a taxing problem that needs fixed, there is a spending problem that needs fixed. As for taxing the "Rich" alduane, those earning better than $110K pay 58% of all income taxes. Those earning $33K and up to 110K pay another 39%. While 47% of the population pays no taxes and may get a refund or credit instead. So if you want socialism, move to some place like Cuba. And take 0bama and his ilk with you.

I hope you don't actually believe this... Yes, our country has spent way beyond it's means but that problem can't be solved by raising taxes. Do you have any idea how much taxes would have to be raised to actually pay off our nations debt? Not sure about you, but I will not give my entire paycheck to this gov't to pay for it's interventionists ways that I did not vote for...

The continued gov't over regulation, taxation, and interventionist policy will not contribute to a stronger nation... just a divided broke one, with a world that still hates us. The first thing that needs to be done is to stop putting our nose in everyone's business, then knock off this ObamaCare crap(which nobody voted for), end the gov't regulations on American businesses, stop opening more gov't agencies to do a piss poor job that was invented for no reason... oh yeah, and stop phucking with my gun rights!

Oh, did I mention we need to stop giving aid to countries whom don't share our way of life(like China)... and stop funding both sides of conflicts(like the Falkland's conflict) or siding with the less of two evils(like Iraq vs Iran & Afghan vs the Soviets). Or maybe we should stop our "peace keeping" missions like Lebanon, Somalia, Bosnia, and Kosovo... these of which turned into conflicts costing billions of American $$, and not to mention lives.

This obstructionism you speak of is in fact the understanding that the way to ensure a nations continued freedom and prospierity is by controlling gov't regulation, stoping this fiat money crap, keeping our nose out of other nations' business, not giving aid to half the world, opening up more free trade, keeping taxes low, and following the American Constitution.

And, while there is no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny... there is however a percentage of the population that has declined rational thought and education of how things really function in a Republic in favor of wealth redistribution, welfare, gov't over regulation, and idea's based on nothing short of retardation.

IMO

Pray for Obama. Psalm 109:8.

I received a verbal spanking from the mods referencing my comment above. I am not sure what this means. I recall "Cracker Killer" hung around quit awhile and several others.

I thank the creep in the White House along with all the Czars and not to leave out MooShell. They help solidified who the extremist, communist, and enemy really are. The are planted in the Democrated Party.

So....when I call someone a moron, who supports this Fascist creep in the white house and the Democrateic Party, I am only profiling based on massive amount of information proving they are communist. This lable can be defined and has no reflection on my emotional state. Since the bedwetting Liberal love labels, labeling a Moron a Moron should be perfectly appropriate. Which
leaves me a little befuddled as to why I received the paddle.
