Nothing is going to happen

I am going to OC today. I am leaving in 15 minutes. I will OC my P22 wherever I go. And nobody will say anything about it. Or the concealed Colt, which is under my jacket. I'm also willing to bet that I will get some Cappucino.

Nobody will target me, call the cops, get scared, scream MWAG or anything. Just like every other day...
Carry what you want HOW you want. Just don't forget to keep one in the pipe.

Not publicly acceptable.

You really think you can carry what you want, how you want and no is going to scream MWAG. I don't believe that I can sling my SGM 9 pistol over my shoulder and go to the grocery store without inciting a major police event.
SGM 9 is a legal AR 15 platform pistol and is acknowledged by BATFE as so.
This is the extreme yet it qualifys as anything legal to carry.
Waiting for HB 495 in Ohio to be signed into law so I can carry loaded magazines to help reduce legal issues with my carrying this weapon in my vehicle.

Somebody else not liking it doesn't diminish your rights. Carry how you want. If it's legal, print it off, fold it up and carry it in your pocket. I keep copies of relevant laws with me, even if just a printed out list and one sentence summary of the law.

It's your duty to know the laws if you carry, so know them and prove it! Quit being afraid of somebody else's fear.

All I need to know is the 2nd Amendment..... any "law" that infringes on our RIGHT to keep and bear arms is not a valid "law"...

495 has been signed. It just hasn't gone into effect yet. And you could already carry loaded magazines in your vehicle if you had a concealed carry license.

I think you are confused here. I don't see anything in the post that mentions a SGM 9. He stated that he was going to oc his P22. That is a Walther handgun in .22 lr. Considerably smaller and less conspicuous than the weapon you are thinking of. I think he is doing quite well and am looking forward to his report of a wonderful day of open carrying!

His closing statement, that you should carry what you want and how you want.
I took his scenrio and placed one of my weapons into it and commenting on what kind of response I would more than likely recieve.
Yes his carrying his P22 should go unnoticed and he should get over the anxiety of OC and just do it.
To make the statement "Carry what you want HOW you want" isn't realistic in society today, there is just too much anxiety regarding a MWAG walking around in public places and there is too much sentiment attached to weapons that look like military weapons.
Even though ownership and transporting a long gun such as was used in CT can be carried over the shoulder openly in Ohio. I can pretty well guarentee you that the police will be called and you would be stopped and questioned extensive and more than likely charged with inciting the public, it is the world in which we live.

So will you admit to being a curmudgeon? Or do I have to tickle it out of you? Jk.

I do not have a fear of OC. I OC everywhere I go, except when it's snowing or the wind blows my shirt over my holster. O was making this thread for people like you who are afraid to OC your legal handgun. Get over it and do it!

My FIL makes the same statements. He says "you'll have the SWAT team at your house," "the cops will shoot you for being stupid." What's stupid is your fear of another person's fear. So get over it and OC! The cops will likely stop you once, if at all, and never again because you threaten the Chief with a lawsuit over him violating your 2a rights.

I will not be charged with jack for OCing a legal weapon. State law preempts local here. The state AG also issued a memorandum ordering police departments to stop arresting citizens for open carry. I suggest you search your own states laws and print off the relevant statutes.

Dang...OC'd to head start, picked up my kid then OC'd at Wally World, the pet store, and picked up a can of Fosters and nobody said anything, cops weren't called and my gun wasn't taken from me.

Not worth responding to you, you can't get past that there are other responsibilities to carrying a firearm other than just being legally allowed.

Depends on where you are. That may be the case in some of the more ant-gun cities, but not so much everywhere else. Technically, Ohio doesn't have an inciting law. There's inducing panic and aggravated menacing. But if you look at those, you'll find that carrying a gun doesn't qualify for those charges. As for being questioned, yes, very likely.

Just need to point out that in NY state, and I wouldn't be surprised if other states had similar laws, it is illegal to open carry. It must be concealed.

Went to a movie tonight, Saw the Jack Reacher movie (now I really want to read the books)

I didn't OC my .380, but my XDm 9mm was in OWB holster on right hip (partially covered by winter coat - tis cold in Michigan)
Nothing happened, no-one said anything - wasn't even looked at funny (unless the teller was hitting on me?) lol

Now - Ive been called paranoid by family, some past friends and even my grandma back when she was alive. - I don't carry because I expect something to happen. I don't carry because I know something will happen, and I don't think anyone's out to get me especially (if they are, they suck at it) - I carry because I can, because its my right - and you never know what might happen.
better to have and not need, then need and not have (paraphrasing - Burt Gummer tremors movie)

besides - If I knew someone was out to get me, Id probably stay safe in sandbagged bunker with 300+ yard kill zone in all directions.. o.O
