SEOUL (Reuters) - A South Korean naval vessel with more than 100 aboard was sinking on Friday in waters near North Korea and Seoul was investigating whether it was hit in a torpedo attack by the North, South Korean media said.

Broadcaster SBS said many South Korean sailors on the stricken vessel were feared dead.

South Korea's YTN TV network said the government was investigating whether the sinking was due to a torpedo attack by the North, and Yonhap news agency said the Seoul government had convened an emergency meeting of security-related ministers.

Yonhap also reported a South Korean navy ship firing toward an unidentified vessel to the north.

North Korea in recent weeks has said it was bolstering its defenses in response to joint South Korean-U.S. military drills that were held this month.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a N. Korean torpedo... They're beggin for a fight with whoever will indulge them:mad:

This turned out to be "not an act of war". Having been stationed in South Korea several times I've seen these two countries thump chests at each other several times. China usually keeps North Korea from doing anything truly stupid.

what about useing several e.m.p. weapons to take out all the norths missle systems and power structure?
What systems OR structure?

One of North Korea's problems lately has been looters removing wiring from closed factories and smuggling it into China.

NK would have to join the last century to have infrastructure to destroy (outside of Pyongyang that is)

We could always have another no win police action against them like we did before. They always come in handy when the government wants to run up the national debt and kill of a few thousand of it's citizens.
