Non Resident permit>> HELP I need some cheering up and advice!

I just got my non-resident permit from the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts.
Don't congratulate me just yet! No offense to anyone from Mass.
I have my resident permit from Pa. and non res. permits from Fla. and Conn.
When I went for my interview in Mass. I thought they would ask me important questions about what the responsibilities were and some questions about Mass. law.
I gave my reason for wanting a carry permit in Mass as... "for all legal purposes" (as recommended here). I may have made a mistake by stating my reason was for "all legal purposes including but not limited to future training and self protection". I think that is what I stated in the application. I will check on that wording for sure.
The guy that interviewed caught me off guard and said that I should elaborate on that on the application or I would get a restricted permit. I told him that I wasn't threatened and then wrote on the app. that I would be in Mass frequently ( I hope that I put that I had two kids now living in Mass and would be there visiting a lot.)
Then I wrote that I considered it my responsibility to be able to protect myself, my wife and my family and now that I am older I have physical limitations. ( I can do more then most guys half my age! ) leasantry: I felt I needed to say more then it should be my right to be able to protect myself and did not mention anything about the 2a.
The letter says that "enclosed, please find your Massachusetts Non-Resident License to Carry Firearms(LTC) .
The permit says in the green stripe >>> Non-Resident Class A Large Capacity Temporary License to Carry Firearms (M.G.L.c.140,131F)
Where it says Restrictions: Target and Hunting
So cheer me up and tell me where to go from here. I will renew along with another $100 in eight month so that my current License doesn't expire.
What to do? Just say All legal purposes.(which the interviewer said I needed to give more reason) and just add Personal Protection! Or do I give the litany that I have unrestricted LTC from 3 other states and feel comfortable being able to take on the responsibility of being able to protect myself in those states and would like the same ability to protect myself in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts!?
Make my day with solid advice and thank you for your help! I need it.
BTW my daughter's BF who is a resident just put for "all legal purposes" was interviewed by his local Sheriff and got his full carry permit.
So for all practical purposes please give me some info what this license entitles me to be able to do in view of the fact I am a non-resident.
For the most part would it be useless to me? I don't hunt.

I remember reading the most non-residents get some type of restriction the first time around....and that on renewal the restrictions will be removed. (or was that RI? )

I thought about applying for the MA permit as well...but $100 for one year...for a state I don't visit all that frequently was a little to rich for me.

Sorry to hear about that. I have my appt for renewal next month and currently have the restriction for employment. I will be looking to remove this restriction and have full LTC in Ma. I do spend a fair amount of time in Mass on non business and having to head home to leave weapon behind only to travel back to mass to visit is pointless. Also living so close to the border (10 Miles) makes it even harder. With all the background checks I have gone through over the years and never had a problem this is crazy. My question is anyone out there had a non resident permit with restrictions and if they renewe:fie:d were the restrictions removed?

The days of simply stating "all lawful purposes" or "I carry a lot of cash" are over for new non-resident applicants. You need to put a positive spin on your reason why you want an unrestricted license, such as conducting business in MA, etc.

It's true that they will most likely convert it to unrestricted upon renewal, but you still will need to elaborate on your reason why.

That sucks, I guess I got to just send in my app for rejection. Got A Resident VA and Non-Res NH, I was hoping that two other states which collectively give me like 35 states would help......guess not. Did you have to turn in the app in person? or just go after it's processed for the interview.

YOU DO need to be more specific when giving a reason for carry. Come on, this is MA. you're trying for. The class/course I took (3 of them) at the time which was given by an NRA instructor gave us a list of "reasons" to use and told us, "do not just write..for protection". I thought about it and chose the one/s that seemed more applicable for me. I'm going to renew mine come this June. As far as spending $100. for year? So what.....it's well worth it. Hmmmm, $100. or my life.....hmmmm? Better Non-Res than a Resident for sure (right Capo?)!

You are right for sure on the non res comment. Now do I have to beg for you to give a list of reasons that might seem more reasonable to my comrades in Mass to get a "no restriction" permit?

well it came in the mail today. Still has the restriction for EMPLOYMENT. WTF!!! after having it for 3 years and explaining during interview I spend more time in Mass than just employment and trying to stay within the LAW that I spend time visiting friends during my off time. Will be calling on monday to ask the reasoning for not putting no restrictions. I feel a honest answer is in order this time versus the one I got last year. (we the state of MA. do not see any reason to issue no restrictions.) Pissed yeah a little and sorry for the rant but at this rate I will not re-new ever again in Ma. My money is better in my pocket than theirs.
Have had mutiple background checks over the years and never an issue. current permits. NH-res/ME/PA/FL/ MA-employment.

Was born in MA and have friends and relatives in all these states. Not having a MA protection permit really limits my ability to protect myself by carrying if I go from home (NH) to CT with MA in the way of travel. It doesn't allow me to stop for food or visiting friends in MA unless I don't carry at all.

The fact that so many feel that this restriction might be removed upon renewal is a comfort. Otherwise, I felt it was a way for MA to collect $100 for nothing useful on my part. I live in hope. Maybe some day MA will come to it's senses. OK, maybe not.

I'd call MA firearms school in Framingham. The run a class once a month called LTC Essentials. It's taught by MA Firearms Attorney Jesse Cohen. I've read the reviews on this for a while now It appears most of the apps for unrestricted LTC-A's are granted even in hard towns, your slightly different as you deal directly with the CHSB but same rules. It's all about how you word your reasoning for wanted an unrestricted permit. A buddy of mine tool it and got his LTC-A no restrictions in a red town (his first permit) well worth the money. You are aware you can challenge the descission right? but I'd make sure you check into that first. Don't burn your 2nd change by doing it wrong.

I have written a letter to the Director of Mass. Firearms stating why I believe it should be changed to no restrictions from employment. Has been a month and not word. Even called last week to ask and got the standard message that leave you info and we will get back to you in 1-2 days. That has been a week also. Will be calling again this week.

After a month of back and forth with the Director of firearms via e-mail and over the phone. We came to a understanding on the reasons why a change should be granted to Full carry NO RESTRICTIONS. I put all the info in e-mail and sent to the director. Received letter today that it has been changed in the state computer and going forward will not be a problem.
