Non-Resident carry permit?

Hey everyone,

I live north or the border in Canada, and frequent the USA quite often for business and leisure. My question is about me being able to carry while visiting. I know I can bring my handguns across the border to a range to go shooting and such, but would like to know the rules about ccw. Is there a minimum amount of time before I can apply to get a carry permit, or am I even allowed one in the first place? I do a lot of driving and travelling around there and would love to have my 9mm Glock on me. I do not have a green card or anything as I travel mostly just for business.

Thanks

thats a good question. best bet is to talk to a consulate, or a qualified attorney. there most likely is a way to do it, depending on where in the us it is you frequent.

AZ says you have to be a resident of their State or a US citizen. AK says you have to be an Alaska resident for over 90 days. Now if you want to come to Alaska to go fishing and hunting for three months... Go to the top of the page and check out each State under Concealed Carry Resources. Some of the pages will make it easy and list the requirements on the main page. All of the applications will have the requirements on them because you will have to swear that you meet the requirements. I know that is a lot of work, good luck.

Thanks for the help. After checking it looks like most states require you to be a citizen. An exception I found was Maine, but that is over on the east coast. My travels mostly involve Washington, Nevada, and Montana and it seem's it's mostly a no-go. Too bad!
