non res permit to res

Hi,

I am a NC resident and have a VA non-res permit. Once I move to VA and become a resident how difficult is it to exchange my non-res permit to resident?

However, I dont see any requirements to change your address....so you could just wait until its time for renewal...then renew as a resident.
