Non-obtrusive bystanders

Last Sun, here in our peaceful little SE Georgia town, a man walked into a restaurant and, in front of her two very small children, dragged her by her hair out to his truck and kidnapped her. Reports show that several people witnessed this event yet no one even lifted their voice to intervene. What is this world coming to?

Cowardice. That's what it is.

A while ago, i was parked in front of a Menards and noticed a girl run to her car and frantically try to open her car door. A car slowly rolled up behind hers and parked. She froze in place and at that time I knew what was going to happen if somebody didn't intervene. Just as I unsnapped my piece and opened the door, a black male got out, looked directly at me and jumped back in and peeled out of the parking lot. It was broad daylight. The parking lot was almost deserted and just 25 feet from her car was a few employees on a cigarette break. I really think they would have just watched and gone back to work. I got the plates from the girls car, a partial of the other called 911 made a report and have no idea what's become of the girl. I hope she isn't missing.

Point is, society has become so self centered and is only interested in self preservation. There are no more good samaritans. It's too much of an inconvenience.

You may have saved the girls life. Some may disagree with me but I just believe if I had been there this past Sun things would have turned out differently.

because of lawyers and liberals there is too much to lose by getting involved, especially in what must have appeared to be a domestic disturbance.

I will get involved and screw the consequences!
There are far too many sheep out there that turn around and pretend that they don't see anything.
I think that is spineless and could never live with myself if I could have helped yet didn't.

I think it's fear rather than apathy.

I am too often frustrated by the lack of response by my own police when I try to be the good citizen and report suspicious things. They act like I'm inconveniencing them. I have to say, that it does cause me to pause sometimes and think if it would be worth it to make the call.

I like your post and I agree. My wife calls me the "King of Confrontation", I just think I'm very old school.
See something, Say something.
See something you can stop, do something.
Second guess me all you want. Until you have done the job I have done please stand down.
