No new Glocks in MA?

So, I was home for turkey day so I figured I'd take my "MA" safety class since It's SO different than everyone else's. So I can start the miserable process of getting my Non-Res LTC for when I'm home. The Instructor was saying you can't buy any new Glocks??? What kind of crap is that? I've been thinking a G26 would be nice. But I don't want an antique. I know when I move back I can bring in what I already have until my Resident paperwork is done and from what I've read theres no law saying they would have to be registered. If I legally buy here (VA) does that create a loophole? That would suck if not!

Nope... Can't buy them here.. The Douc*e nozzle we have for an Attorney General here in MA has her own interpretation of the 2nd Amendment...

Only guns on the roster of approved firearms are allowed to be sold here in MA.

No Glocks, No Colts, No XD's, No Kel-Tec... Here's the list...

Absolute BS... It's the result of liberal interpretation of the Bill of Rights...

Nope. If you move here the firearms have to be registered to you with the state. If they are not on the approved list NO... That was the way it was explained to me... Sucks here, hence my signature... Site member mshean can corroborate...

Don't move here if you can help it... NH or VT would be better locations...

Glocks were actually on the list, but I'm sure thats talking about the old ones. Also he was saying I'd have to swap my 16rd mags for 10s because there "high capacity" isn't that what the class A says right on it? If not can you still have them for say....the range? just not as your carry ones?

From all my research as well as small talk with MASSHOLES who happen to come to our state. A class A only allows you to carry the firearm with you concealed. A class B permit only allows you to take the firearm from your house to the range IT DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO CARRY CONCEALED. The following was taking from Mass.Gov website.

Effective June 1, 1998, all new firearm license applicants must complete a certified firearms safety course or Basic Hunter Education Course

The new law creates two types of licenses to carry (LTC):

CLASS “A" LTC: Permits the purchase, possession and carrying of all ammunition, handguns, rifles, shotguns and feeding devices (both large and non-large capacity). This is the only license that allows the carrying of concealed handguns-either loaded or unloaded.

CLASS “B" LTC: Permits the purchase, possession and carrying of all ammunition, non-large capacity handguns, and all rifles and shotguns (large and non-large capacity).

Definition of Large Capacity Weapon
A weapon is large capacity if it is a semi-automatic handgun or rifle that is capable of accepting (or readily modifiable to accept) any detachable large capacity feeding device that holds more than ten rounds, OR if it is a shotgun capable of accepting more than five shotgun shells, OR if it is an assault weapon.

NOTE: A .22 caliber rifle with a fixed tubular magazine is not considered large capacity.

Class "A" and Class "B" License to Carry (LTC) Information
Your current LTC will be valid until its stated expiration date. New applicants must be 21 years of age or older to obtain a Class “A" or Class “B" permit. New applicants must complete a Mass. certified firearms safety course or a BASIC HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE. Class “A" and “B" LTC cost $100.00 and are valid for 6 years.

Firearms Identification (FID) Cards
The new FID card permits the purchase, possession and carrying of NON-LARGE CAPACITY RIFLES, SHOTGUNS and AMMUNITION ONLY. You must be at least 18 years old (or 15 - 17 years old with parental consent) to apply for an FID card. The fee for an FID card is $100.00 and it is valid for 6 years. New applicants must complete a Mass. approved firearms safety course or a BASIC HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE. A restricted FID card is available solely for the possession of mace or pepper spray. Applicants for the restricted FID are exempt from the education requirement.

Transporting Guns in Motor Vehicles
CLASS “A" LTC: Allows the holder to transport a loaded or unloaded handgun on his person or in a motor vehicle if the handgun is under their direct control. Handgun does not have to be in a locked case or container.

CLASS “B" LTC: Allows the holder to transport a non-large capacity handgun. Handgun must be unloaded and secured in a locked trunk or locked container.

LARGE-CAPACITY RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS: No person possessing a large-capacity rifle or shotgun under a Class “A" or Class “B" permit shall possess said rifle or shotgun in a motor vehicle unless unloaded and contained within a locked trunk or in a locked case or other secure container.

NOTE: All rifles and shotguns must be unloaded when in or on a motor vehicle, but only large-capacity rifles and shotguns are subject to the storage requirement. This also applies to Muzzleloading or other Black Powder arms.

Carrying Rifles and Shotguns upon Public Ways while Hunting
You can carry a loaded or unloaded rifle or shotgun upon or across a public way if you are engaged in hunting and hold a valid hunting license. You do not need a trigger lock or case on the rifle or shotgun provided you are engaged in hunting with a valid hunting license.

NOTE: You shall not possess a loaded rifle or shotgun nor discharge same within 500 feet of a building or dwelling in use without the owners or occupants permission. Also, you shall not discharge same upon or across any state or hard surfaced highway nor within 150 feet of such highway.

Storage of Firearms
All handguns, rifles and shotguns must be stored in a locked container or equipped with a tamper-resistant mechanical lock or other safety device. Such weapon shall not be deemed stored or kept if carried by or under the control of the owner or other lawfully authorized user. Primitive firearms are exempt from this storage requirement.

What the hell would anyone want to move HERE for? :fie:

In my defense, I tried convincing the girl to consider right over the NH border. Nice side of Nashua, Salem etc. So far not going for it  I'm trying for a green city but who knows. We moved from West Roxbury but If I wind up back there.......nuff said.

Is this Female your wife? Or GF? If your not ball and chained already I would dump her ass and find a new one. Giving up your rights to move to PRMA(Masshole USA) sounds like your(Pu**Y whipped). What reason other then maybe jobs would you have to move to socialist USA? Higher taxes? High sales tax?Income tax?Little to no gun rights(depending on the police department)Free health care for all?High Crime?:confused::confused:

I'm with ya. It ain't over yet! and ya pretty much the job thing, I've got not issue commuting to Boston for the higher pay and then living it up in NH since I start early AM so I can beat 93's crap. But for her it would suck. Thats the big one.

I just took the Mass. LTC course in Nov. at S&W. First the instructor laughed and asked why I paid the $100 for the non res permit. The course was interesting with much focus on Mass law. Talk about pitfalls! If I was to carry in Ma. I am pretty sure it would be in one of those fanny pack type holsters. This way there would be absolutely no chance of it printing or accidentally becoming exposed. In Mass if it this happens they will arrest your behind for brandishing. That is my estimation from what was said in the class not what thr instructor said.
Now about the GLOCK >>>>> I was told if it was a pre ban Glock it would be allowed. I asked if they would know that by the serial # and was told yes. Therefore I could carry my Glock 17 with 17 rds. in the MAG.
As I write this it seems to me if for some reason they found me carrying it (say I had to use it or they found out some other way) they would probably arrest me or at least confiscate my gun until they ascertained it was a pre ban gun!
Anyone know if I changed my barrel and used Glock 22 mags so I could carry.40 S&W, more then 10, would that be ok since the gun would still have the same pre ban serial #?
Now another problem that lovely Mas gun law causes. I want to take a defensive shot gun class at S&W. I have a Remington 870, folding stock and capable of 8 in the tube. According to post above I can carry it in my car unloaded and locked in the trunk but can I use it in the class? S&W is private property! Would I be within the law? Or, would it be one of those..no one at S7W are going to call the police and no one would know type thing. I would rather be within the wonderful protective infringements of my 2A rights put forth by Massachusetts!
Hope I can get some feedback and thanks.

What does that mean? She is not evening willing to take into account your feelings? Is it really all about her? I wish you luck! It's not really higher pay if they rape you with taxes and paying for health care for people unwilling to work. Really puts you back at even by the time your done paying taxes.

I was thinking the same thing

Not sure on that, I would be very careful with this. Like everyone has stated above, Glocks must be pre-ban which I believe is 1998-earlier. I have both the Class B and A (longgggg story why I had a B as well). The B license is a joke, go for the A. Where are you planning on moving btw (don't need to give specifics if you don't want, general location is fine), this will help us determine how things will go for you. I am a North Shore guy and there are a few very Green towns around here. I have the same problem as you....wife doesn't want to live in NH. A guy at my work has one of the nicest gun collections I have ever seen, where does he live? NH! Thats because with a collection like that here in PRMA...you must be up to no good :sarcastic:

Best of luck! Let us know how everything turns out.

West Roxbury!!!! Hell that's a must carry location for sure..

West Roxbury is actually NOT Part of Roxbury. It's between Roslindale, Brookline and Dedham :)

Again, It's a must carry location for me. I avoid it (the city and urban sprawl) for the most part. I'm well west of all that and chose my home location for that reason. The closer you get to Boston, the less likely you are to get the firearms license needed to really be effective for self defense and the higher the likelihood of being victimized.

I've lived in MA for 30+ years... It's just too close to Mattapan and Dorchester for my liking... I'd rather keep out of the city if possible.

I'm Thinking Framingham, maybe Marlborough (a little mixed on that one) The GF grew up there / Natick, Still Close enough to my family (W Rox, Roslindale) But with more to do, shopping, bars / restaurants, nicer Apt complexes etc... I liked the Idea of some of the North Shore but like you said alot of Red. (and the ones that aren't, I can't afford)

The EOPS roster and the AG's regulations only affect what guns a MA FFL Dealer can sell in MA. You can lawfully own Glocks, but any magazines over 10 rounds capacity must be pre-ban (9-13-1994). It is easy to tell on Glock magazines, and there are pre-ban magazines on the market including in MA. Glocks manufactured before 10-21-1998 (effective date of current law) that are on the EOPS roster are commonly found in MA gun stores.

If you move to MA, you can bring your guns as long as they are locked in a suitable container. They do not have to be on the "list". You have 60 days to become licensed. Your non-resident license is void upon your relocation to MA. You have no duty to report guns that you already lawfully own. MA still has an assault weapons ban that mirrors the old Federal ban, so no guns with "evil features" unless they are pre-ban.

Unless you have a stong reason, most first time non-resident license applicants will receive a restricted Class A LTC. I'm told that the FRB will change them to unrestricted upon the first renewal. The non-resident license is good for one year, and you must appear in person at the FRB in Chelsea for an interview, photos and prints. The process repeats each time you renew.

Not being indignant, in which section of the gun laws is that documented?
For reference on my part. I've been trying to get this sorted out...
Thanks...

I'm a long way from MA at present, without many resources, but I'll follow up upon my return. In the meantime, Link Removed to visit that topic on the GOAL website. There is much more info on their site, including links to MGL.
