Zimmerman was not going to be just fine. That family was never stopping until they got him. They were starting to involve the feds. The incident was far from over.

No one should defend him just as no one should convict him until the entire story comes out. But the media only increased the outrage on what has to be the poster-boy for everything you don't do. This moron wrote the book. And the advice of keeping your mouth shut is still paramount because now all those statements he made locks him into a story. ANd some of those statements may prove to be false. NEVER give the DA a lock on the story.

It is always wise to watch what you say, no matter who you are talking to, or what you are talking about.

My point is that Zimmerman's decision to talk to the police actually worked for him because the police did not decide to charge him. So this story does not back up the belief that you should never talk to the police.

The problem is that the media went crazy after the police did not file charges, and because of all the uneducated outrage in the community (mainly the liberal and black community), this case is being prosecuted. It was not the decision of the police. They believed Zimmerman.

So if you get involved in a shooting and there is no evidence that you broke any laws, you think you should get to spend thousands of dollars and have your life turned upside down for a year or so, just so you can go through a trial? Sounds like a loser to me.

As an NRA personal protection instructor, I'm required to follow the course syllabus. The NRA recommends shutting your mouth and lawyering-up. The reason is because many things happen in the aftermath of a defensive shooting. There are psychological and physiological issues in play. You may not immediately have proper recall due to time dilation, auditory exclusion, tunnel vision, etc. Your adrenaline may be high as well as levels of epinephrine or norepinephrine. You may be distressed (if your normal), sad, exited, elated or a combination of these. Statements may not be accurate until you have time to reflect. If your statements don't match witness statements it's a problem. You explain to the police that you were in fear for your life or safety and that you would like to speak with an attorney, after which you'll answer all their questions. LEO are afforded this opportunity for the same reason. After a LEO shoots someone he's not hustled into a room and questioned. He's allowed to seek counseling and legal representation. The NRA teaches this or a reason. Mas Ayoob teaches this for a reason. You have no idea what the motive of that LEO is. Maybe he's looking for that felony arrest.

He who practices his own law has a fool for an attorney. It's the innocent that need an attorney, let the guilty lie for themselves (Ben Franklin).

There really is no mess only a bunch of left wing false claims. The cops looked at what they had and chose not to file charges. We've seen a lot if not most of the evidence and there is nothing that contradicts Zimmerman's story. This is nothing more than an attempt at a left wing lynching.

I've said all along that he could be guilty. I've also said all along that he is innocent until proven guilty, that we don't have all the facts, that the prosecution is pandering to the press rather than seeking truth, that the media is a piss poor source for truth, that it is patently absurd to base a decision on media reports or hype, and that the preponderance of evidence we've seen so far (all of it in fact) seems to confirm Zimmerman's version of the events that night.

One question that hasn't been answered for me is 'Why did Zimmerman get out of his car?' The way I understand it the responsibility of neighborhood watch participants is to observe and report. Having a ccp does not give anyone the right to pursue and engage. This whole incident could have been so easily avoided by following the rules.

Martin moved out of sight. It was necessary to leave the vehicle to observe and report, the job of a neighborhood watch. He didn't pursue and didn't engage. On the contrary, he specifically told the dispatcher that he didn't want to approach Martin.

This can't be emphasized enough. Mas isn't the only qualified and experienced person that stresses these facts.

Someone has been watching to many CSI shows. His guilt or innocence doesn’t really matter to some folks. This will always be a racial issue to those folks and nothing more. His innocence could be verified by God himself and it still wouldn’t be good enough. Just the way it is. I don’t think he should have gotten out of the truck either but that is just my opinion.

Was it ever indicated that Martin got a hold of Zimmerman's gun? IIRC I thought it was stated that Martin went after the gun but Zimmerman covered it before Martin got to it.

I don't remember the facts and there has been so much wide eyed speculation about this whole case, I just can't or don't care to remember.

The ONLY racism that is being exhibited is by people of a different race that want to claim it was racist. This was a shooting, legal or not, to be adjudicated in a court of Law.
