No guns allowed signs

Show us all, you oh so smart people who disagree with me, how, where and by what means do my rights disappear.... (or your rights) I swear the absolute blindness and circular thinking you *** as** have to come up with to support your "property rights" while 100% IGNORING the very same thing (property rights) of others just so you can say no-one has any rights but yourselves once someone crosses an imaginary line.... My personal property (my firearms in this case) are just as real, just as absolute as yours are... they do NOT go away just because your name is on a piece of paper at the county office.... trespass laws are not being discussed here, PROPERTY RIGHTS are.... EVERYTHING I OWN IS MY PROPERTY, same as you. If you wish to have someone charged or arrested for trespassing, that is your decision. To say you will shoot or even kill someone who is armed while on your property is advocating murder, no other way to put it without LYING to yourselves and us.

Go ahead, lie some more, spout off your rules trumping my rights all you want.. I am still the only one here speaking the ugly truth none of you want to admit.

I repeat;

Enter my property with a gun, against my will, expect to be met with extreme prejudice.

At that point your actions will determine how extreme that prejudice becomes.

Private property rules do not trump your rights. You always have your rights. What private property rules do is deny you, YOU personally as a human being with all your rights and everything you own, permission to enter someone elses property.

And yes you do have to have permission from the property owner in order to enter property owned by someone other than yourself. If you do not have that permission then you are trespassing and subject to all legal penalties applicable. And it is the property rights of the property owner that gives them the power and authority to make rules that define who has permission and who does not. It is trespass laws that enforce the private property owner's rules.

Make no mistake, the act of trespass occurs the minute you enter someone elses private property without permission. Violating a property owner's rules means you (YOU personally as a human being with all your rights and everything you own) do not have the owner's permission to enter. Being asked to leave means you got caught in the act of already trespassing. Being arrested means suffering the penalties for the act of trespass.

It is my opinion that it is the -needing permission to enter- that sticks in the craw of some folks who think they are so damn special, so important, that they have the right to go where ever they damn well please and how dare anyone say different yet, at least in my experience, those same folks scream holy hell if someone walks across their lawn without permission. And that is a prime example of "Hooray for MY property rights and to hell with yours because MY RIGHTS are more important than yours."

Well said. Frankly, I am starting to wonder if “hatchetman” is just trolling us, sitting back and laughing his ass off for us taking that obvious flawed-logic ******** so seriously.

I'm in Utah, and with the exception of the post office, I mostly ignore all signage when carrying concealed. The idea behind concealed carry is that it's concealed, right? Technically, I am trespassing when there is a sign posted, and if asked to leave, I would calmly do so. But people (at least the knowledgable ones) around these parts can pretty much expect at least 1/20 adults are carrying and I don't think anyone else is avoiding the movies either.

Edit * the post office doesn't have signage, I just know that it's really bad news to bring a gun into the post office.

Are you saying that you will disrespect the private property rights of others as long as there is very little chance of being caught and even if caught there is little to no punishment... but if there is a strong enough penalty for being caught then the concern of heavy punishment will cause you to not carry there?

In other words the private property rights of others isn't what you are concerned with nor is being caught the over riding factor but the only thing that can make you not carry is a very strong punishment if caught? So it isn't a rights thing or a personal integrity thing where you do what is right even if no one would know instead of sneaking the gun in because no one would know but is only a how much of a punishment is possible if caught thing?

I guess you could interpret it that way.

The problem is the guy’s understanding of the difference between “private property” as pertaining to belongings, and “private property” as pertaining to real estate.

My real estate is private property, and you may not enter it with any of your private property belongings that I don’t want you to. My control over my real estate trumps your right to bring possessions I prohibit on to it.

This is a slightly old thread but rather than start a new one I am reviving it. I too am a relatively new CCW carrier in Ca. and it has become all to apparent to me that many places I never knew have some sort of NO Guns or Weapons signs. Most of them in our State have no force of Law accept for trespass laws. During my interview with the Sheriff we discussed just this scenario and I was told that most of those signs are ignored around here by CCW holders but if asked you must leave otherwise carry on. Mind you I live in a very 2a friendly county of a very very unfriendly 2a State. In our state hole cities like SF & LA want to outlaw guns all together so you have to draw a line somewhere.
Personally I try to respect all signs but I carry for personal protection and if push comes to shove my personal safety is more important than a little sign that prevents me from doing so. That said I do my best to avoid any potential issues if at all possible but no one is going to restrict my right to personal protection.

I believe in property rights. I really do. But once in a while, I ignore those signs. In particular, at a local mall that has a small, somewhat obscure "no guns" symbol on most of the entrance doors but not on all of them and has a "code of conduct" that says "no weapons allowed". I open carry in this mall all the time and have never once been asked to leave, even when standing right next to a security guard who clearly saw the gun on me. There are also a couple fast food restaurants in town with the same soft of signs, and I usually go in there as well, but concealing my gun. I rationalize this by choosing to believe that if they're not bothering to put up a proper sign, they probably aren't that serious about it, and maybe even really just intend for those signs to be more like the "unlawful possession of a firearm" signs that many businesses post. I feel just a little guilty when I do. By contrast, there's a business that has a sign that says something to the effect of "out of respect of our customers and employees, please either leave your handgun in your car or conceal it'. They don't post a sign that actually prohibits (legally) open carry, but what kind of an a-hole would you have to be to ignore that sign?

My 2 cents:

Where I go, my gun goes.

If the sign says my gun isn't welcome, then the sign is saying I'm not welcome.

I do not intrude where I'm not welcome.

I also do not buy anything from places where I'm not welcome.

Aside from writing the owner a letter, refusing to given them my business is really the only legal recourse I have against such signs.

As is your right (to decide where to spend your money). [emoji106]
