NICS Check

Hello to all,
this is my first posting on this site. Here is my Question-
Friday I went to purchase a Springfield Armory XDM .40 sub-compact. I filled out the paper work and even had to change my drivers license address (they had computer internet access there for that reason). My NICS check came back as a delay. Now I have been doing some research on the internet and I know that a CHL in Texas exempts you from the check. There are a few things that concern me about my background check.
1. I have a DWI conviction 10 years ago (only thing that I have been convicted of besides traffic tickets)
2. I was under a protective order that has been expired for about a year.
3. I was in the Army (Military Police) and had a security clearance. Heard it can Flag the NICS
saw this one and figured why not ask about it.
4. My father is a state trooper here in Texas. Found a couple people saying that any child of a cop has sealed juvinile records that would flag the NICS.
I did alot of research before I went to purchase my handgun and found that I meet all the requirements. I was just wondering if any of the 4 listed above would flag and delay the transfer of the handgun.

I'm not sure what would trigger a delay; possibly the protective order. I'm sure you'll be approved. If you find out the reason for the delay, please post back and let us know.

I can't see where having had a security clearance would delay anything. Mine didn't. The protective order might be a red flag, I've been told that it can be here in Nevada, but I don't know the particulars of expiration time lines or how Texas deals with them. IDK on the other things.

I wouldn't fret too much about it. Seems every other time or so I purchase a long gun I get a delay. Seems like it can be for anything, or nothing, with no rhyme or reason. Luckily NC has a purchase permit requirement for handguns that is also a NIC alternative to long guns purchase so I can skip over the call-in to buy the long gun by taking the permit issued by the sheriff to the gun shop. The last delay I got they said it was because I applied for a FLA non resident permit and the FBI records check for that permit flagged me. As I understand it, the automated system doesn't know if the FBI check for for something like employment or a CHP or because of an investigation of crime, so it has to be reviewed by a human.

Basically, if you have had any activity in the FBI system recently you'll likely get a flag. The last shotgun I bought at a pawn shop, they called it in and I got a "wait a minute" while the operator looked over my file, and approved me. I suspect the lazy ones, or if it is a busy time like a holiday or weekend, they don't do that and you get put in the Que to be looked over later (at their convenience).
