NH pistol permit question

I called NH state police today to inquire about the status of my Non Res permit. She said it was printed and would probably be mailed in a couple of weeks. She stated "it had to go through a quality control process".....OK, I snickered a little. What is the quality control process??? Surely she didn't mean they've printed it and now doing the background check. IDK. Any insight here??

thanks

I believe what she meant is that they did the NH background check and printed it,but they have to do checks in your state and all of the states that reciprocate a NH. pistol permit before they can mail it

You're probably right. I was under the impression they just did a federal check and I had to send a copy of mine from my home state (SC). I just kind of chuckled when she said that about "quality control" like they were gonna inspect this piece of plastic to make sure it doesn't have any flaws before they mail it....LOL

Funny you asked this today. I called them yesterday and got the same response. Mine came in the mail today.

Cool. maybe I will get mine soon. Did you inquire about the "quality control" process? I wanted to, but was literally laughing so hard inside that it was all I could do to say thank you and hang the phone up.

She didn't mention the quality control thing to me. Just that it was printed and to give it a couple of weeks and I should have it. I mailed my application out on 5/21, so the whole process took 24 days door to door. Not bad.

What does that mean???

Yeah I'm thinking they're not doing checks in every state that they reciprocate with. I think they form their alliances as far as reciprocity goes because they've agreed to go by the same standards as far as issuing a permit goes. NH doesn't reciprocate with SC, so I'm not sure they really care what SC thinks. I was just confused that NH would actually print the permit and then do checks. That seemed strange to me. Kind of like giving a kid his drivers license and then saying "OK kid, you ready to go give this parallel parking a whirl?" I think I may have just gotten a standard answer from someone who really didn't know anything other than it had been printed. We'll see.........

OK here is an update. The following day after I created this post, my NH permit shows up in the mail. I didn't mail mine in until June 1st. So that is pretty good turn around, 15 days including USPS time (both ways) too!! Still not real sure about the "quality control" process and it would be a couple of weeks before it was mailed though when I received it the following day. I guess if you do get ahold of someone up there to check the status, you really know more than they do...LOL Great work NH for the turn around though! I really needed this, because I'm traveling tomorrow through GA, AL, and MS which don't reciprocate with my SC permit....woo hoooooo
