Recommends total firearm registration, ammo serial numbers, ban on sale of all firearms capable of holding more than 10 rounds (with no grandfather clause), etc, "...though that would not have prevented the deaths of 20 first-graders and six educators in Sandy Hook because the shooter used weapons legally bought and owned by his mother.”

Newtown Panel: All guns should be registered, all ammo serial numbered

From the Comission's report>>>>>>>"Next, all firearms should be registered and ammunition buyers would be restricted to only the caliber chambered for their licensed guns. Those who have firearms licenses, stresses the report should at every renewal pass a test of firearms handling capacity as well as an understanding of state and local laws."

These people are sooo "whacked"! I couldn't help at laugh at this training suggestion and surprised they never continued their irrational thought process to it's natural conclusion. Simply put, wouldn't this training make legal, law abiding gun owners much more proficient mass killers?:neo::wacko::sarcastic:

Why didn't they just say repeal the 2nd Amendment and confiscate all guns from citizens - with government officials being exempt, of course.

Does any of this nonsense apply to stolen guns? Do stolen guns get an exception? How is this going to stop the law abiding armed citizens from committing violent gun crimes they aren't committing? Guess I don't understand left wing nut job logic. :sarcastic:

We're all smart enough to understand that gun laws only restrict those who choose to follow them. As such, criminals are not suppressed in any way by these measures, just us regular folk. Such is the rotting logic of the AmeriKan populace: create more laws for the criminals to continue not heeding to.

Not a very bright lot, are they? Emotion trumps reality. Stunted intellectual capacity. Defective DNA material. Blame everything except murderers.

If all firearms disappeared in a big "poof", the next deadliest tool would be grabbed, and the murders would continue, unabated, and many murderous criminals would just make more firearms to fill the void. When law-abiding citizens have no means of protection, the crime skyrockets. Look at Australia and England. Perfect examples. Sure, crimes with firearms are down, but crime with all other deadly tools is out of control. Much worse than before banned firearms. History repeats, and governments are too ignorant to make the connection.

The level of stupid in this country is beyond belief.

I'm quietly waiting for them to try to enforce a confiscation order. I'm afraid that will ignite more powder than that state is ready for.

Let me correct the report...
.
All firearms legally owned by law abiding citizens shall be registered. All ammo owned by law abiding citizens shall contain a serial number. The criminal element is hereby exempted from these provisions.

That's the one last link in the thought process that they cannot make - criminals do not follow laws. Just like the saying says; locked doors only keep honest people honest. They persist in magical thinking. You just can't get it through to them that laws, rules, restrictions, and prohibitions do not stop people who choose to ignore them. Those who can only think in terms of regulating others cannot seem to get past that point. Murder, robbery, mayhem - all are already prohibited; but a campus policy, that will do the trick.

A prime example of this magical thinking is the issue of campus carry. Each year it comes up here in FL and I get to hear my colleagues whine and opine on things they know nothing about. If most saw a weapon they would wet themselves. They truly believe that a campus regulation will keep them safe from a criminal who wanted to kill them, that such a criminal would elect not to do so because murdering them with a handgun would violate campus weapon policy. These are people with PhDs! I was talking to one of my graduate students about this issue and she said the same thing. I asked her if she thought a campus policy would dissuade someone who was ready to commit murder; I could see by the look in her eyes, she got the point. Too bad most of her professors can't. We have, after all, had shooting deaths on FL campuses, despite such policies being in place.

There's no link between common sense and a collage degree. PHD just means it's Piled Higher & Deeper. No common sense need apply. Left wing liberals only need to feel good about their intentions. There it's fixed. If some how that doesn't work, more good intentions needed and/or throw more money at it. Make sure it's someone else's money of course. :sarcastic:

In general, I would agree; common sense is not so common among them. Thankfully not all of us are deluded, under that pile, although I am in the minority as a gun owner, carrier and veteran (an NCO too - most veterans/retirees who are on faculty or in administration are former officers). It is true that the vast majority feel as if they know better than everyone else and if the masses would only listen to them all would be well. Still, it is clear to anyone who has been outside the academic bubble that they are out of touch with reality.

It is clear to many inside the bubble too but they will lose their jobs because it goes against the school's policies. So they choose to go along.

Families Of Newtown Massacre Victims Reach $1.5 Million Settlement : The Two-Way : NPR

"The lawsuits made essentially the same claim — that Nancy Lanza purchased the Bushmaster and kept it in her home, where her 20-year-old son had access to it. State police reports said the Bushmaster was kept in a gun safe that was in a room adjacent to Adam Lanza's bedroom and that he had unlimited access to it.
"The lawsuits allege that Nancy Lanza 'knew or should have known that [Adam Lanza's] mental and emotional condition made him a danger to others.' "

And votesr should know beforehand that the people they vote for have had a Mental Exam, waited 14 days before registering for office and that the person who they elected IS PROBELY STUPID AND DUMB.

Just more stupid knee jerk reaction needed laws, not one item would have saved a single child just some people trying to make it sound like it will save lives.
Just look at old slick willy's 1994 assault weapons ban, drove up prices on all weapons and Mags made importers jump through Government hoops, made us learn about the stupid 922r requirements. This ban never saved anyone.
Yeah think any of these new half witted ideas for new laws will save anyone?

Typical knee-jerk reaction. Look what Cuomo did in NY. He used that tragedy to enact laws outside of the establish legal legislative process. Voted in the dead of night under threat.
