Just got my CCW permit in the mail today from the State Police here in ME. Took about two and a half months. Don't know how much I'll carry, but it's something I've wanted to achieve for several years now. Wanted to tell somebody!

Good luck getting yours. Five months is a long time.
Maine has a new driver's license style permit. I had to send them a passport size photo, fill out a ten page application, photocopy of my birth certificate, consent to a search for mental health records, show proof of taking a pistol safety class, and pay $35. Renewal is every four years. If you let it lapse you have to start the whole process from scratch!

Thanks! Missouri has had a rough go of it w/ the floods and all. Hope folks are recovering well.
This site/forum looks great to me. Full of information. Nice pic of your pup.

Congrats on your permit, as far as how often you carry, I'll tell you ALL DAY EVERY DAY. Guns are like seat belts you don't wear them because you have a feeling you MIGHT need it that day. You always wear because you can't predict the future. The day you don't wear it is the day you might get dead! At first you'll think it's paranoia, but now that you can carry you'll start paying a lot more attention to things and noticing things that you didn't before. Like the guy that appears to be casing out the convenience store your in or how many people were shot somewhere last night on the news....you'll see. Maine is also a OC state. Don't forget to exercise that from time to time or that will be another right lost. You don't want to become MA!

Congrats from Florida!
hope you're more prepared than I was...I ended up basically getting a new wardrobe to accommodate my new carry status.
Couple hundred bucks on different holsters too..lol
be safe!

Welcome to the world of CC! As has been said already, having the ability to carry but NOT carrying is no bueno! carry as much as you can, it gets easier and easier, trust me, I have only been carrying a few months and it is sooo much easier today than it was just a few weeks ago. Best of luck.

Congratulations from the friendliest gun state in the union, Arizona, Carry every day and night and practice, Firearms are only as good as the person squeezing the trigger,

Yes, my sis has lived in Tucson for the past 35 years. I was there in the early 80s. Great state, AZ, really enjoyed it, but the east is too much in my blood. I'll be practicing at the nearby gun club, outdoor range with my SR9c and indoor range w/ Mk III Target. Haven't done enough yet.

Lol. Mine took 12 months and it's restricted to hunting and target shooting. I dream of 5 months and no restrictions!

Where the hell are you that it took a year to get a permit and then get slapped with a T&H, gotta be NY or NJ, Even MA spits out useless restricted permits quicker than that. Please fill out your profile so people can put the pieces together

Erie County NY. I'm kind of new to the forum... didn't realize that I didn't have my location on here.
