New York NYS #Firearms License Request for Public Records Exemption #FIA

Since I can no longer find the State by State forum page on this site here is the "new" form to send into your county clerk to be permanently removed from any future public records - Freedom of Information Act - lists. This will ensure that disgusting organizations like The Journal News, a Gannett company, who published the names and home addresses of all firearm owners in Westchester and Rockland Counties does not happen again.

I would encourage all those to read this even if you do not live in New York, as I find the wording very threatening and completely unsympathetic to the rights of civilians.

The full list of NY pistol permit holders was released in 2010 due to a foil request. Any NY resident that had their permit before then is on the list and it is easily obtainable online. Dont bother filling it out and sending it in if you have had your permit before 2010.

You only need to be compromised once, whats done is done. Im still an applicsnt so it makes sense for me to fill it out, but anyone on the current list that can be found in about 5 minutes will always be out there for every one to find. Youll prevent it from being released again but it is still out there already

Crap, it's still online. Unbelievable. I really believe there should be a law suit filed against that site that is hosting the list.

Fill out the form - if you move - you'll be glad you did. Some of the original releases had addresses, some did not. CYA.

Was at a county pistol office last week - clerk said they were still processing the 'opt out' forms. Although the closing date for this was supposed to be May 15, they were still accepting forms that some forgetful shooters had filled out and dated previously, but had neglected to turn them in immediately.

Seems very un Constitutional that there is a closing date on this at all. Doesn't seem fair to anyone who gets a permit in the future. Typical New York stupidity.

can anyone give me any info on how to get a restriction removed from my cc permit ? In oswego NY they dont give them out with out them.
