New Ne CCW Permit Holder

In NM You DO NOT have to inform police at a stop, they are SUPPOSED to assume everyone has a weapon, as You can carry concealed in Your car, motorcycle, even when on a bike as it is considered the same as Your HOME, without a CCW permit. But when You get out of a car or off a motorcycle it has to be carried OPENLY unless You have a CCW permit. NM is a OPEN CARRY without a license state.

As my brother that's a police officer always told me when I'm carrying is "it's better to be safe than sorry". If you're in a vehicle that gets pulled over you should always inform the officer. If they want to run your ID which they can to make sure you don't have any warrants, your CCL number will pop up. Than if the officer asks you if you're carrying and then you tell him yes it's going to make him/her think "why didn't this person tell me before?" And will cause more issues.

Thanks everyone for the great info I plan on educating myself as much as possible on the laws of cc. I knew being a passenger and if officer engaged conversation with me to inform if I was carrying I just didn't know if I should inform officer even though he/she was not speaking with me.
