New mini Glocks on the way?

Rumor??? Heard from a friend that sells guns: Glock is going to be coming out with some new mini Glocks, much smaller than anything they've made. Even a .380? Has anyone else heard about this?

It will be the model G42 unveiled at the 2014 SHOT Show in January. Rumor has it it will be a single stack .380 slim profile pistol.

me thinks they need to get their present product production under control before they add more new models! i am not alone waiting over 6 months for a glock 30s! (fortunately vance just got in their first batch of em - 30 or so).

I finally got my Gen 4 Glock 33 after about 5 months. After it came in I noticed that the finish on the slide was screwed up. The gun shop sent it back to them and a month later, it came back - Glock had refinished it but it wasn't the same rough coating that it originally had. It is much smoother now. I'm not sure if I liked the original finish better or not.

The current .380 Auto Glocks (models 25 and 28) don't have enough BATFE import points to make them available to the general public. These import points are caliber dependent, which is why the .380 Auto Glock 25 is not available but the size- and functionally-identical 9 mm Glock 19 is. See SayUncle » On gun laws that are dumb . If they ever do produce single stack .380 Auto they will face the same problem.

CURSE THEM! I just got my 26 for my small carry gun and now they come out with something I would like to have considered:alcoholic:

I even asked the guy at my LGS if they were coming out with something new because I had heard that rumor but he assuaged my concerns. On the other hand it's not like a 26 is a mistake. I just would have liked to study ALL my options (yes, I am a bit anal about research).

Oh well

Bofg- Glock has a manufacture plant in the US now and can make guns here. Any gun that is made here in the US is not affected by the BATFE importation points system.

Howdy,

They already make a .380, just not for civilians, it's the Glock 25

Glock makes a 25 and a 28 in ,380 but they are NOT importable to the USA.

Yes, they are for civilians. In fact, in some countries, like Mexico, they are the only model available to civilians.

A mini Glock? Why?

Eventhough i own a Kel-Tek PF-9, I have never understood the mini carry gun line of thinking. I very rarely carry my PF-9 and usually do it when I am not able to carry a bigger gun.

My EDC is a Glock 23 and I have a friend that at 6' 4" and 270lbs "claims" a Glock 23 is just too big and heavy to carry concealed.

Anyway, back on topic: News to me.

You are correct. It's a market-based decision by Glock not to manufacture their current .380s in the US. So, if they do come out with a single stack .380, it will likely have to be produced in the US, either displacing existing US production capacity or requiring an increase in US production capacity. Either way, it will be again a market-based decision by Glock.

True. I believe the current .380 Glock makes (G25/28) would be poor sellers in the US even if they were able to sell them here. They make no sense. Why get a .380 in a sub compact or compact frame when you could get a 9mm in the same size with barely much more recoil? Maybe those with wrist issues or the elderly, but that is such a small percentage of the shooting population. These models were made specifically for those countries where civilians are prohibited from owning any weapons in the same caliber as it's military or law enforcement. The only .380 worth having is a tiny pocket gun like a Kel-Tec P3AT or Ruger LCP. Again, my opinion only. If this G42 is a .380 the size of a P3AT then I think that would be a good seller. A baby Glock single stack 9mm/.40/.45 would be HUGE sellers in my opinion. That's what I'm hoping for in these new Glock models, but it's looking like I'm going to have to keep dreaming.

And Glock is ramping up their production in Smyrna, GA. We are getting more and more models in with the USA stamping and less with the Austria marks.

THAT is good news! I'd love to see more "Made in the USA" Glocks, especially something in this "pocketable" form factor. This from someone who EDC's a Glock 30s with an occasional swap to the Glock 26 when I want to go "lighter". I'm selling my Ruger LC9 as its not much different carrying it than the Glocks. I also sometimes carry a Taurus TCP 738 when I want a real "pocket gun".

There is also, apparently, a G41 coming. That will be a 'Practical Tactical' size like the G34 and G35 in .45 ACP caliber.

That still leaves a G40 question-mark. Glock numbers their products in sequence. The first Glock pistol made is the G17 because it's the 17th product produced by Glock. So somewhere there is a G40 hiding.

I read somewhere that the Glock 40 model number will be skipped to avoid confusion with the .40 caliber models. As if Glock doesn't have already a confusing model numbering scheme. If they really skip model number 40, they will probably also skip model number 45 (when the time comes) just to be consistent in the madness.

If they come out with a single-stack .380 (or 9 mm), I wonder what the size designation will be? We already have: standard, compact, and subcompact. May be ultracompact?

I just hope when they do come out with these new guns they are easer to get a hold of then the 30s has been still trying to get my hands on one

I hope they make it a staggered single stack like the M&P Shield to squeeze and extra round in there. A Glock under an inch wide would be awesome.
