Yesterday marks the beginning of the 2014 Spring Illinois Legislative Session, with the Illinois House scheduled for 11:30 AM and the Senate for 11:00 AM.
Several bills filed offering the promise of an improved Firearm Concealed Carry Act and, of course, the threat of others proposing to make the Act more restrictive. None of these bills have yet to be assigned to substantive committee. To date, only HB3762 Firearm Owners ID - 18 Years has been scheduled for a committee hearing (2/5/2014). This bill, offered by Representative Franks, would reduce the minimum age for FOID eligibility to 18 if passed.
STAY ALERT. There are some bad bills which will probably be called for vote this spring.
Be prepared to file those witness slips and make phone calls!
