New guy question

Hi everyone. I joined a while ago and have learned a lot. Thanks.
So here's my deal. I live in Philadelphia. Last year I took a ccw class and got my FL. and VA. permits. I have yet to get my resident PA. LTCF, partially based on principle, (I don't want to give Philly reference letters from two friends) and partly because I haven't made the time. For the sake of argument I don't carry.
I believe that I am still good to go here in Pa as they have not yet closed the FL "loophole". But am I good in FL and the other reciprocial states without a resident PA LTCF?
I plan on moving out of Philly into a different county within the next six months. At which point I will gladly get the PA LTCF, until then I was just curious.
BTW I have looked at the maps for reciprocity, but they do say to select your resident permit state first.
Thanks
Jim

I got my FL permit before I got my MO one. It took only nearly 3 weeks from filing.

Welcome to this group. This is not just a learner's site but a good resource for everything from stories to big tales and informative members...pretty much like googling a topic you are interested in but better...

Sounds like you should check DIRECTLY with law enforcement and/or state authorities before you find yourself in a situation that you do not want to be in. Read the pertinent codes of law and if confused by legalese, contact authorities. Telling the authorities that you had good advice from USA Carry is not going to do you any good if the advice is not correct or you misinterpret what has been told to you.

I totally agree with this, you could also ask a lawyer, most offer a free consultation.... Don't take your legal advice from the forum.

PA. is an awsome state, I have visited there many times. I always met nice friendly people.

I believe you can apply for a PA permit in any PA county........ Not just the county you live in... Maybe you should ask this question in the PA forum in the State section?

Well, upon further research, you are correct, if you reside in Philly, you must apply in Philly. All others that reside in PA must also apply in their home county.

This sucks for residents of PA.... as a non-resident, I (and any other who chooses to) had the choice of ANY PA county I desired to apply...... (I did, and hold a PA non-resident permit myself, my wife is from PA, and they dont recognize OH CCW)

Thanks everyone. I didn't intend to make any concrete decisions based on advice from the forum. I trust you guys, but not that much. PA is nice but Philly has some bureaucracy issues. On the plus side we can bowhunt inside city limits. I guess I will contact a lawyer, one problem is that even the Police around here aren't sure about carry laws. I don't blame them for being paronoid, but I don't want to end up on the wrong side of a cranky one.
Thanks again
Jim

I agree wroth Wild Eyed Willy, Take his advice and Contact LEO's in your area before you end up on the wrong side of the Law
