Why are you getting a Florida permit? What is wrong with North Carolina's CCW? I never understand why people want CCW's from other states when you are legal to carry in 30 plus states with a NC CCW! (By the way, welcome aboard, we are glad to have you).

i am a florida resident and nc requires a letter from my chain of command and i dont want them involved in every aspect of my life

In North Carolina, we are a common law state that allows open carry. It must be where it can be seen, not covered or concealed in any way. Vehicle, on seat or dash. Otherwise, the way the law is phrased, it must be inaccessible to occupants of vehicle.
Hope this helps.

I have always wondered which states have the most open gun laws. I see lots of comments about different states. Which ones do you guys think has the most open laws?

welcome from Mooresville, NC. most of this state is open carry "friendly" yes its totally legal, but there are a few places in this state where the cops will give you a hard time. I carry openly everywhere I legally can.

Oh you CAN NOT get charged with going armed to the terror of the public for just simply having a holstered weapon on your hip or where you put it, so dont worry about that

good luck!

Some of us cant get a NC permit because we are perfectly legal resident aliens - but not citizens and NC requires that. I for example had to get a Utah permit in order to CC.

Open carry in NC can get you charged with "Going Armed to the Terror of the Public."

And the dismissal and lawsuit that follows can get you a few hundred thousand dollars.

You needs to read STATE V. HUNTLEY before continuing to spread manure.

"A man may carry a gun for any lawful purpose of business or amusement, but he cannot go about with that or any other dangerous weapon, to terrify and alarm, and in such manner as naturally will terrify and alarm a peaceful people."

"But although a gun is an "unusual weapon," it is to be remembered that the carrying of a gun, per se, constitutes no (p.423)offence. For any lawful purpose--either of business or amusement--the citizen is at perfect liberty to carry his gun."

CITE: State v. Huntley, 25 N.C. (3 Ired.) 418, 40 Am. Dec. 416 (1843)

NC is probably one of the best gun friendly states there is. A lot of people always think Texas or Florida but neither can open carry and I think we have the best CHP reciprocity in the country. Im currently waiting for my NCHP its only been a month . I live in Charlotte and the Mecklenburg sheriff is backed up so they take the full 90 days.

protection

this past week i got a Ruger SR9 and a Ruger LCP 380 for protection. I have taken the CC test so i have to wait now i guess. :pleasantry:
