  1. Do you own/ know any one that owns one or both of them?
  2. Have you shot one or both?
  3. What do you think about them?
  4. Good buy for the money?
  5. Will it hold up/last?
  6. What would you buy instead that is under 1k(under 500 would be nice )

Looking at picking one or both of them up for home use/end of the world dooms day. I have researched the hell out of it and found the same amount of negative reviews about both items/ both company's as a whole as I have found of Positive reviews. All and all I have made up my mind but I just wanted some more feedback on the matter( you can never have to much of that .)

If you decide to make the Bulgarian AK-74 NDS-2 Rifle, 5.45×39 your main defensive rifle, stock up with several thousand rounds of ammo and a parts kit. As far as I know, there is are no domestic ammo producers at this time and any number of things could cut off supply. Link Removed

Yeah ammunition to go has around 1000-1080 rounds for 160 last time I checked. If and when Dooms day did take place firearms would be come nothing more then steel clubs after 10-20 years any and all stock piles of ammo would be gone. I also would carry a reusable weapon such as a bow and arrow and or long sword.

S&W.....have you done any reseach on the sig 556 nato round. or the sig 516 Patrol. I am just starting my reaseach in a reliable weapon and something more accurate then an ak 47. What have you found out about the piston driven?

I have been looking at them and Rugers SR556 but the price is scaring me away from both of them. Sigs 556 rifle line is also piston driven from what I have read but again the price. I have three other firearms, training classes, ammo and other accessories I'm looking to buy at the same time. As it is now all four firearms alone come to 1600 and change then add on 600 for training classes, 200 for holsters, belts and pouches, 160 and change for ammo for the ak, Mags for the AK , Add-ons for the ak. Your looking at over 2k for everything all said and done. I cant afford to drop 1300-2k on just one firearm and still have money left over for all the other items I'm looking to buy. But from everything I have read they are said to be outstanding firearms and if you have the money to blow by all means go for it.

Hey s&wm&p40: Ditto on me for pardner. I have the pardner protector 18inch ($185 out the door)--it is a knock off of rem 870--i actually use the manual for the 870 as my guide for any takedown for cleaning. I assume use is not for heavy duty type clay shooting or stuff. Mine is for home protection-use 00. Every so often i take it to range just to blast something to smithereens and it has always worked just fine. I make sure i keep it oiled correctly so that there is not rust etc since it does ''sit" for months at a time.

I've got an AK74 that seems to work fine with Barnual, Wolf, and RWS. I'm sure it will work with the bajillion rounds of surplus I also have. I'm considering getting another of these and keeping it for a spare/backup. Mags are getting a little cheaper for these now. I just ordered a scope mount to see if that option is worthwhile. The original plan was for the AK74 to be a backup for my S&W M&P 15 in 5.45x39 but I found the AK to be pretty good on it's own. I stocked up on some 55 HP, RWS HP, and Hornady V-Max for the AR and Classic 70 grain fmj and Golden Tiger FMJ plus 4K rounds of surplus for the AK. All that's left is to add a few more mags for the AK. I saw an ad for mags @$10 if buying a rifle or $15 w/o the rifle. Buying 10 extra mags cuts the cost of the rifle quite nicely.

Outstanding! For the most part that's what I have planned for it as well(home defense shotgun). For the cost of 190 shipped(Budsgunshop) you cant really beat it.

I have looked at the M&P15 as that line is outstanding! But at this time the 900-1k price tag is to rich for my budget. If I was just looking to buy one firearm I would be all over that in a heart beat! Love the mag give away S&W does for the M&P15 (5 FREE 30 round P-mags) is a outstanding deal. Even the two free mags or 50 dollar rebate for the pistols is outstanding! I love the fact that with the compact M&P pistols S&W will ship you a free extended finger grip for the mag that does not come with one. Yeah the ammo prices for the 47-74 are vary nice 1000-1080 rounds for 160 and change is not a bad deal. Glade to know you like your Ak-74's!

Pardner pump

Another good report on the Pardner "Protector" Pump. The only downside is the finish is not great. Kind of like thin parkerizing or just flat black paint.

Well that I can live with lol. Not looking for a beauty queen just looking for a firearm that will work for the HD role. Any finish issues can be taken care of with a can of rustoleum or some duracoat. Thanks for the reply!
