New CCW holster question

Overpriced junk, in my very personal opinion. And, yes, I am opposing the review on this very site: Brave Response Holster Review - USA Carry:

A large number of students, including several females, have said they would like a lightweight, sturdy, and comfortable holster that is easy and quick to put on and take off, doesn't "break the bank" in cost, that could be worn casually without a belt, and would work with more than one model handgun.

It costs $70 + $5 shipping. That is as much as any high-quality holster costs. This one isn't one of those. The concept of a universal holster for all handguns is plain stupid. There is a reason why holsters are fitted to handguns. Also, the retention strap for IWB carry is less than practical. Also, when carrying a gun without a belt in this type of holster, the weight of the gun and magazines is held by that belly band. This can be more uncomfortable than an actual belt.

It all really depends on what your needs are. I would never use this holster as I have others that I know work for me. Instead of buying some snake oil off the Internet, get a half-decent kydex holster and gun belt and get some training. Only in a training class you will learn what works for you. For example, can you draw the firearm quickly and safely at the same time. Can you reholster the firearm safely as well. (There is no need to speed reholster other than to look tacticool.)

Take a look at this subform and browse through holster-specific threads to learn more: http://www.usacarry.com/forums/women-and-guns/. Also, take a look at Contents | Cornered Cat.

With over 20 years as a Paramedic I have responded to my share of NDs and many involve the thumb break/strap getting into the trigger guard during (careless) re-holstering. My advice on holsters like the one you describe, are to be aware that the soft nylon strap retention system and the hazards it presents. I agree 100% with bofh above

Just my personal opinion but there is no way in hell that holster is worth $70. I've seen far better designed and made ones for less.

So far, this person is two-for-two posting pure, unadulterated SPAM. The link in this post is selling a POS "holster" and that's the only reason "Tamara" posted it. It's click-bait that "she" gets paid for whether or not any anyone buys the holster. That's how internet "marketing" works - clicks are just as valuable to the "marketers" as sales are to the "holster maker."

"Tamara Brown's" other post is another "clickbank" redirect that is selling an online "course" from an individual company or "instructor," the come-on of which is that you can get "trained" without ever leaving your living room! In other words, it's another sales pitch for abject junk.

Proceed with caution. Further responses to both of these posts will only generate sales, because it keeps the threads at the top of the forum, thusly increasing traffic by unsuspecting passersby.

First let me start this by saying that I have no affiliation with eBay or Barsony. I agree that the holster shown by the OP is over priced. That being said here are 3 very inexpensive and well made holsters. USA made by Barsony in Oregon. The two on the left are OWB with retention straps and the one on the right is IWB. The most expensive is $26.99 on the left and the least expensive on the right is $17.99. All with free shipping from eBay. I have never had a problem with the retention strap getting tangled with the trigger. Not sure how it could be done.

Pro Carry Deep Comfort by theholsterstore.net

This is my preference. I have been using EDC for almost 5 years. Comfortable and long lasting. Made in US(Florida) of American Materials. If it ever wears out I will go back to them for my next one.

Please read post #8 about why you shouldn't click on the link in the OP and why you shouldn't post in this thread. Also, read post #3 on the dangers of nylon retention straps on the first two holsters.

First of all I am very new to this website but not to guns or retention holsters. I was only trying to give some useful information. If one has any experience with retention holsters then they would know to be careful when re-holstering in one or any holster. As for violating #8 that was someone's opinion. Two people posted after I did including yourself. I can tell that this is going to be a very unfriendly website.

Did you read and understand post #8? This has nothing to do with someone's opinion. The fact is that every time someone clicks on the link in the OP, the person that posted it makes money. And yes, other posters, including me with my post #2, did not get that. I am just making you aware of this.

As far as the nylon retention straps go, understand that other people that have no clue read your post. Many gun owners think, for some reason, that the main objective when obtaining firearms and equipment is to save money. Hence, there is a huge market of cheap crap that can get people injured or killed, especially since training seems to be the last gun owners want to spend money on.
