New Bullets Mean Certain Death

Is this kind of stuff old news? I remember reading something about hollow points one time as a scare tactic.

From what I can tell, this is a gimmick round, expensive and likely to stay that way (each individual round is CNC machined from a bronze blank). It s a very light round that is intended to fragment into 6 or 7 flechettes, maintaining a basic plug in the process. They say that there is no chance for collateral damage with this round, but if you closely study their own video of their test rounds into ballistic gelatin, you can clearly see 2-3 of the flechettes exiting the ballistic gel. To me, that spells the potential for collateral damage.

You're better off sticking with a proven hollow point round.

Yawn, The sky is falling, the sky is falling, what shall we do. Lions and tigers and bears oh my. This guy is probably the one that told Mothers worried about guns (or whatever their self aggrandizing name is) that there has never been a case where being armed saved someones life. He is a BLOGGER (shorthand for full of crap) who thinks he can spread panic. I found his "insights" into the gun culture entertaining, for about 3 seconds. He obviously has no clue whatsoever about anything gun related.

The scary thing is that somewhere out there are people who believe his crap. The good news is that those who follow him are already so far down that road that they are irretrievably lost anyway (till they get mugged or are victims of a home invasion, car jacking, rape or any crime of violence and they realize they are helpless without an "equalizer).

As to the bullets (seemingly just a side bar in this guys ran)t. I would like to see more. If they work as advertised I "might" be interested but I would need to see more studies. As far as being more deadly, well yeah, I want the threat stopped if I have to shoot. I don't think bullets guaranteed to "only wound" are very safe for the shooter so yeah, bring it on.

What a ridiculous article on so many levels, I could care less about the RIP round itself... expensive, gimmicky, and I'll stick with hollow points, thank you vey much.
Frankly its the rest of the article that's offensive (I know, these type of things are everywhere in and out of the MSM, but this one's here and I have my soapbox out).
First paragraph:
"They’re often “playing” with their guns. Or “cleaning” them when they go off accidentally. These are the law-abiding gun owners, the responsible ones.".
So responsible gun owners play with their guns and clean them while loaded? Nice conclusion, genius. I guess I (and everyone else on here) must be irresponsible because We would never due that?

"It's time to admit there is something very sick and wrong with our gun culture in this country. The people conducting “open carry” protests at restaurants and stores around the country don’t have pistols attached to their hips; they are carrying assault weapons almost as big as they are. "
Let's pull, out the OC and calling rifles assault weapons straw men, because guns are scary and so are the people that use them. Agree with it or not, nothing illegal about the OC guys or their rifles, but you know, assault weapons are bad! Uggh.

Finally:
"This multiplies the damage a bullet can do considerably, and is certain to turn what might otherwise be minor injuries into major ones, and major injuries into deaths."
So I guess the author's premise is that if you are ever in a situation where you need to use your weapon to defend yourself or others you only want cause as little harm as possible to your would be assailant, because you know that's all they would do to you.
Drivel.
