Nevada Carry Question

I have heard from a friend that Nevada has a deal coming up in October concerning concealed carry permits. Don't know exactly what it is, but since I am planning to relocate to the Las Vegas area, I thought it would be a good idea to check on it.

Any info would be appreciated. Stay cool out there.

The new law in October allows qualification with one semi-auto to use any semi-auto for concealed carry. We no longer will have to qualify with every new weapon we purchase. Yeah!

In addition to what was well stated above.

The stage has been set for Nevada CCW holders to once again be able to buy a handgun (or any firearm) without a background check (costs $25) each time a purchase is made. Pending ATF approval.

As far as I had found, that Oct 1 date would have applied to the college campus carry, which didn't make it to floor vote last session. All other laws went into effect July 1, 2011, so no laws are pending going into effect on Oct 1, 2011. The synopsis from these two links appear complete (pay special attention to the Clark County registration laws which are different from the rest of the state):

I think the new law regarding semi automatics when into effect July 1st.

It did. Several bills passed with one bill saying July 1, and the others said October 1. At least in Las Vegas, the police are now permitting people to carry semis as long as you qualified with at least one. Other counties might do something different though they shouldn't since AB282 did go into effect on July 1.

I think the new law regarding semi automatics when into effect July 1st.

Actually before ATF can approve it, the Sheriff's association has to vote to request the ATF to reinstate the exemption. They are supposed to meet tomorrow I believe.
