Need to smooth action on Marlin 336

Got a Marlin 336 lever action 30-30 and the action on it is not very smooth at all. Almost hurts your hands sometimes to cycle the action. How exactly do you go about smoothing out the action on these guns? Is it just a matter of greasing the internals or do I need to do some polishing? I had seen videos on youtube where they polished stuff but didn't know if that was necessary or not. Thanks.

Unless you can determine which areas you need to polish, I'd (for now) recommend oiling it down and working the lever over and over... and over. Do it while you're watching TV or something. Over time, with a few thousand cycles... you may smooth it out. I have a Rossi .38Spl revolver that I load it with Snap-Caps and pull the trigger a few hundred times every other week or so... I don't feel like replacing the spring. Try it out, let us know.

Will do. Thanks.
