Need help with my Glock 27 finger extension

I purchased and installed two grip extensions for my subcompact Glock 27. They feel great having the extra leverage and a place to put my fifth digit, but I went to shoot them at the range today and boy were they painful. There is some stippling on them to maximize grip purchase but under the intense recoil of the .40 it was quite painful... they are abrasively rough and I even got some blood from a sort of pinching injury.

My question is I figured I could put some type of tape on it so it's more padded. I was looking for some suggestions on what type of tape I should use. I didn't know if. Should use tennis racket type cloth tape or rubber tape... I really don't know. Any help would be appreciated.

What make grip extensions are they? I used longer mags on my 27 and added X Grip Glock Magazine Sleeves and they work perfect. I'd be afraid with adding any type of tape that it may make it difficult to eject the magazine. I've got the .40 also and I like the frame extension too.

Mine are smooth. You could replace them with an 1 round extension or file off the striplings with a Dremel or a file. If it really is that much of a problem I would look for other manufactures. There are a few of them out there.

Try an A&G grip extension, coupled with a G23 magazine. You will get an extended grip, as well as larger capacity. The 27 will be easier to control during live fire, and will still retain it's small, concealable profile.

I have a G26 with the Pearce extensions and they regularly "bite" my little finger if I don't hold the pistol perfectly. My solution when I go to the range is just to wear a small bandaid on my pinkie for practice. Problem solved.

I have a Glock 27 and the pearce extensions... Have not had that problem...

A few months ago, I picked up a Kel-Tec P11 and added the extension. That pistol bit me every time I shot it...

A friend wanted it, and I let him hold it....First time I have had a pistol bit back!

i would try to take sand paper or a dremel and try to smooth out the stippling before putting tape onto them

Hate to say this but in my opinion, just like Chris Reitsma, you may as well sell the G27 and get a G23 if you don't like the subcompact.

I use the Pearce Plus Two extensions, they work great, no pinching or pain. What were the ones you used?

They are both Pearce. One is the pinky extension, one is the +1 extension. Where the pinky rests is a rough patch for purchase, that is where I am having the pain.

Precisely what I am talking about... Exactly!

If you are going to use grip extensions why did you get the G27. ? You should of got a G23 and your problem would be gone.

It is more of just a place to rest the pinky. It stll makes it easier to conceal and a bit lighter having the 27, but I will look into the 23.

The pinching is from a very small gap between the extended base plate and the bottom of the grip, and is a common complaint with the G27 with some of the "pinky" extensions. You can eliminate the problem with a thin "O" ring from the hardware store. Just make thick enough to take care of the problem, but thin enough that the magazine will fully seat.

The best place to find advice about the Glock pistols is at Glock Talk - Powered by vBulletin under General Glocking. It's not quite as tame as this forum seems to be from what I have seen so far, but it has been going since '98 or "99 and the knowledge and advice is very sound.
