Hi all! I recently purchased a Glock 27 and a Comp-Tac Minotaur IWB holster. I am 6' and weigh about 155lbs, size ~32 waist depending on the brand. Living in Florida, it's typically shorts or jeans and a medium sized t-shirt (I don't like very baggy clothes and usually prefer 'athletic' fits).
The holster fits in my waistband and over belt nice and secure (a sturdy Dickies belt), and is comfortable while standing or walking, but when I sit down it seems a bit large. When the pistol is holstered the muzzle does not protrude from the bottom of the kydex at all, but the leather extends another 2" or so past that. Is that for a particular reason other than protecting the wearer from abrasion from a longer barrel? For me it just seems like an inconvenience. The adjustable belt loops stick out a bit and create a sort of small print on my butt pocket just making my butt look a bit awkward, but I figure once I find the right positioning I can trim them down. My main concern is with the extra leather that seems to hit anything I sit on, causing the rig to rise on my hip and forcing me to sit awkwardly or pulling the belt up with it, making the whole deal obvious.
Any recommendations? Should I try to trim the extra leather off? I am hesitant because it wasn't cheap, but I really don't want to spend a few hundred bucks trying out several holsters only to find one I actually like.
