Need advice - Mossberg 930

Ok so I bought a new 930SPX a few weeks ago at a local gun show. I haven't had time to take it out yet but while I was checking it out and dry firing the other day something surprised me. The gun fired while the bolt was not locked into battery. In fact it was a good 3/8" out of battery. I don't know if this gun has a firing pin blocker and since it wasn't loaded I don't know if it actually fired but the hammer fell. Is this something I should be worried about or is it normal? I know the chamber pressure of 12 gauge shotguns hovers right around only about 15,000 PSI compared to 60,000 for a 5.56 so idk if the lower pressure makes it less of a concern. Any help or info would be appreciated.

Because I wanted to be as sure as possible that it would function properly if I ever needed to use it, mine had has hundreds of shells through it without an issue. That being said, I was curious about your comment, so I just unloaded mine and checked it and was able to dry fire it with the bolt about 3/4 inch from being closed. I am far from an expert so I have no opinion, just telling you that mine works perfectly when actually firing shells. I am extremely happy with it. I would suggest you put lots of shells through it, to get accustomed to the awesome firepower and so you will trust it to function properly when and if you need it. Maybe an expert will comment further.

Haha thanks for the comment. I'm super stoked to take it out. Been lookin for one for a while and just happened to come across one at a show and for a decent price in all this madness. I'll get it out rockin as soon as I can.
