Need 1911

I have fired a 1911.45ACP only a few times and have been lusting after one ever since. Would like some insight from the 1911 X-Spurts here about concealability, holsters and brand name. Does a full size conceal well or do I need to look at a compact?

Thanks

Most people will tell you its about what you're comfortable with. I got a little extra meat working against me but I carry a full size aw' day err' day in either an Alessi Shoulder rig or a CrossBreed supertuck deluxe. You'll hear a lot of people like that one, I'm sure. Both conceal really well even on a full size frame. (Both the gun and myself).

Don't buy ONE!!! Buy a bunch of Glocks!!!! They get very VeryVERY expensive(for a good one)! Ask me how I know!!! If you do decide to play on this very slippery slope, do yourself a favor figure out your budget and plan on doubling it!

I'm a 1911 snob, I'm only a fan of 5" and 4.25" guns. You can carry one all day every day with the right IWB holster and BELT!!

So figure out a starting budget and I'm sure we can help you send it!

I
want a 1911 for no other reason that, well I want one. I HATE Glocks. I use the crossbreed supertuck for my .40S&W.XDM for CCW and the Blackhawk ALS for OC.
Both are excellent holsters.

Seriously considering the Springfield Range Officer full size.

Josh and I both own 1911 pistols. I love mine. But I do understand why other people dislike them. Here is the video we have that covers the bottom of the price range Rock Island 1911 mil spec. It runs for about $4-500 depending on where you live and the Springfield Armory Range Officer it is about $900 in most gun stores. Hope the video helps.
As far as ccw goes. I would say Springfield EMP. Colt Defender. Something along those lines. Full size 1911 can be bulky for CCW.

Finally got the 1911. I wanted a Sig or a Kimber but the Springfield just felt right and the Kimber was waaay out of my price range. Shot it yesterday and it is incredibly accurate. I'm in love.

Range Officer is a damn fine choice. It's what we shot in the video above. The Operator 1911 is on the want list. I'm saving my money for a 3 gun set. So that will be put on the waiting list.

I carry and shoot 1911 combat commander, love it, own several, also own kimber, springfield and para. Carry and shoot what you are confortable with.

It's like everything else where guns are concerned. It's all about personal preference and what feels right. I just bought a S&W E Series 1911. I personally wouldn't try to conceal it. I'm looking for something smaller to conceal like a .40 P30.
