NC church carry

Evening all,

I have read and read and read some more of the NCDOJ's handgun laws updated last in 9/14. I do not see anywhere where it says I cannot carry in a church. I see everything else but. Unless the church has a posted sign, am I good to go does anyone know?

Thanks

Sid

In SC you can not carry in a church unless you have permission. Many states do not have this rule! I can only speak for myself, but before I would carry into ANY church I would get permission from the Elders and the Pastor. I know that in a lot of states this is not required. For me it's simply a matter of respect. I would do the same before carrying into someones home. I respect and honor the old saying, "A man's home is his castle!" My home is my castle and I set the rules, NOT LAW, but the rules. I feel the same for a church! The Leaders set the rules and if I feel they are wrong then I do not belong in that church.

So my advice to you is talk to your Church Leaders if you want to carry in your church.

Do you also respect business owners and ask them before carrying in their business? Or are they not worthy of equal respect? And the last time I checked, God said it was His church, not man's. I asked Him and He said carry on!

No law against church carry in NC. In fact several churches in the area have hosted CC classes for their members.

Our church gets together for open range target shoots. Pastor and his family included. My wife and I always conceal carry in church.

I wanna "like" this but I think you actually believe you spoke to a supernatural being, in which case I'm worried that you even have a gun

Thank you all. I did read some posts on other forums, albeit back from 2013 or later where they mentioned, as long as a pre-school or an educational building is NOT attached where they carry studies, I am good to go.
Thats confusing in my opinion though.

I like the idea of asking and following rules too.

Thank you guys and have a nice day.

I'm a pastor and do carry in my church and today was the first time I did a ankle carry because I wear a robe on Sunday even service it wasn't bad at all. I was going to keep it in my office which is behind me but I said that about time something happen and I leave the pulpit to go back to get my firearm the bg would have time to shoot up the place. At least if I ankle carry it wouldn't be as bad.

I have taken my group to the range. A few over the years had never been before and had a great time.

sinful nature is always hostile to God....

I pastor a small country church in PA. 3 deacons, the retired pastor and myself are always carrying - along with a number of other people in the church! It is safe to say, "I pity the fool" who would ever try something in our service! As their pastor it is my responsibility to protect and serve the congregation, I take that very seriously!

Pastors, what do you think: should a person ask/inform the leadership of a church before attending/visiting with a lawfully carried firearm? When you visit other churches for whatever reasons, do you ask/inform the leadership of that church regarding your gun? And since this is in the concealed carry sub-forum, let's assume carried concealed.

NavyLCD,
I don't. You said it is a "lawfully carried firearm" and it is concealed! Under both qualifications it is the armed citizens responsibility to be responsible with that choice! I don't ask "permission" from every business I enter before entering, so why should someone be required to ask the "church" permission? They have already been given permission by law...
Anyone who would have a problem with someone carrying will change their mind IF their life is saved by someone that was carrying!

No sir! If we are out to dinner and if it come up I will let them know, if they are again it I will honor their wishes and just stay at my church, their are two churches that I have being invited to, one next month and in September the area they are in is not to good so I will be carrying.
