Navy Federal Credit Union No CCW

Just wanted eveyone to know that at least 2 of the Navy Federal Credit Unions in SC (N. Charelston & Columbia) have posted no CCW. I have contacted corperate HQ and they state this is there policy and are going to stand by it. As soon as I can get a new account and pay off the small loan with them I am gone. There are plenty of other banks to do business with that don't post.

Just curious, since it is the Navy Credit Union, is it run by the Navy, and therefore make it a Federal building?

It's not actually run by the Navy itself, but maybe still counts... Off of wikipedia:

"Navy Federal Credit Union (or Navy Federal) is a credit union headquartered in Vienna, Virginia, chartered and regulated under the authority of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) of the U.S. federal government."

"In 1947, the credit union was officially dissolved and rechartered as a federal credit union, named Navy Department Employees Federal Credit Union (NDEFCU)..."

It might not actually be a federal building itself, but that might be enough for it to be stuck banning firearms. Heck if I know. All I know is they almost screwed us out of buying our house.

They are not a government agency. That is their name. That is unless Golden West federal credit union is holding out in me, things out west don't seem to be made of gold.

Definition of Federal facility in 18 USC 930:

(g) As used in this section:
(1) The term "Federal facility"
means a building or part thereof owned
or leased by the Federal Government,
where Federal employees are regularly
present for the purpose of performing
their official duties.

Navy Federal Credit Union buildings are not owned or leased by the Federal government, nor are their Federal employees regularly present for the purpose of performing official duties. Therefore, not Federal property any more than First National Bank down the street with "National" in their name and their FDIC insurance.

Good to know... thanks!

One nice thing Navy Fed did... When Obama threatened to stop paying the military, Navy Federal said they didn't care, anyone in the military who had an account with them could expect their normal paycheck on time. Granted, it wasn't like they were going to lose money on the deal since eventually the military members would get some sort of back pay, but it was definitely peace of mind for a lot of people who had bills to pay.

USAA made the same promise. And they don't care how I am dressed to do all my banking with them. I can be wearing my gun and nothing else.

They might not care if your not wearing anything else, but I'm sure the rest of their customers would.

My command including my Battalion CO (and several other unit commands that i know of) said, if they don't pay you, don't come to work. Our entire battalion was in the process of locking its doors and preparing to shut itself down and go find civilian jobs when the spending bill finally passed.

My contract included a little clause about them paying me. Enlisting doesn't make you a slave. But good on Navy Fed for offering to help fill the gap.

So, if you don't show up for work, when the government pays you back pay for the time that you did not work, you are going to give it back then, right?

Will the people ever get the word that "gun free zone" really means "killing zone"? How many people have to die unable to defend themselves before we figure it out. I go to exceptional effort to avoid those places, and when they are commercial establishments, I let the management know why my business goes to their competition. Whenever possible, I slip the word to people in the school and school district, too ("Hey, what if the principal at Sandy Hook had a Glock in her hand when she confronted the whacko murderer?") Banks in Texas are not gun free unless they post section 30.06 signs, and none of those I do business with have the signs.

If it's CCW, how will they know?

Not that I object to taking your business elsewhere. I just think it's stupid of them to post such a notice, when the guy who wants to rob the joint now knows that there won't be any guns in there but his - and he WILL walk in with his gun concealed. Maybe the first person he shoots will be the person responsible for those notices?

Lol back pay? You clearly have more faith in this administration and congress than I do. Sorry a contract is a two-way deal. If a civilian employer decided to not pay you for several weeks or months with the promise of "backpay" would you stick around? I sure wouldn't. I'd be searching for a new job immediately. The military's the same way. Even though I love my job and what I do if they don't pay me, that's a breach of contract and I'd be looking for a new job, no backpay expected. I have a family to support.

But to answer your question yes, if they did send me an undeserved check in the future, I would give back anything I didn't earn. I'm not looking for handouts.

If the government does shut down long enough for us to not get paid on October 15th, I am looking forward to hearing about your experience of just quitting and walking away.
