We certainly don't want Sotomayor confirmed by the Senate...

With this potentially being her first case, that she has already made a related anti-constitutional ruling on, with a nearly identical case...

Agreed, I have got to send a second set of notes to Michigan's notso dynamic dual about the new nominee. We certainly do not want her vetting process to start until late fall.

In all fairness, Sotomayor will probably be more moderate than Souter. Her presence would not have changed the Heller decisioin. I think she is about as good as we are going to get from this administration. About the only way we could do better is if she were 80 years old.

Sotomayor is exponentially worse then Souter as is reaffirmed by all reputable Second Amendment Scholars, and subject matter experts including but not limited to the NRA, GOA, SAF, JPFO, David Kopel...

Stay on your U.S. Senators, about adamantly opposing the Confirmation of Sototmayor...

SAF APPEALS CHICAGO CASE TO U.S. SUPREME COURT
For Immediate Release: 6/9/2009

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today appealed its lawsuit against the City of Chicago’s handgun ban to the United States Supreme Court.

The case, which began as McDonald v. City of Chicago and is now consolidated with a similar lawsuit filed by the National Rifle Association, was filed last year within an hour of the Supreme Court’s landmark Second Amendment ruling in District of Columbia v. Dick Anthony Heller.

In the Chicago case – which can be followed at ChicagoGunCase.com – SAF is asking the Supreme Court for a definitive ruling that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is incorporated against the states by the Fourteenth Amendment’s Privileges or Immunities or Due Process clauses. Earlier this year, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled that the Second Amendment is incorporated as a limit on state and local governments.

“We know we are going to win this case,” said SAF founder Alan M. Gottlieb. “States should not be able to take away rights guaranteed by the federal constitution.”

“Like any other citizen,” said plaintiff Otis McDonald, “I would like to be able to protect myself from drug dealers and gang bangers who make it almost impossible to even go to the grocery store.”...

I would respectfully request you cite your sources. I have seen nothing that idicates she is WORSE than Souter on 2nd ammendment rights and gun control issues. I think they will be about the same, bad....

The only instance I can see Souter voting pro gun was in the case where a career criminal was caught carrying a gun, which is an obvious attempt to get the legislature to pass more restrictive laws.
David Souter on Gun Control

IMO, this will not change the balance in any real way.

IF YOU SUPPORT THE SECOND AMENDMENT AS IT WAS WRITTEN AND INTENDED BY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS, THIS IS THE PLACE, IF YOU DON'T GO BACK TO THE DAILYKOS AND MOVEON...

The time to oppose Second Amendment Infringements is BEFORE THEY HAPPEN...

PROACTIVE NOT REACTIVE...

Otherwise you end up like England, Australia, India, China, Canada and most of the countries in Europe and Asia...
Disarmed & Defenseless against Criminals and a Tyrannical Usurper Government...

Does anybody fricking read anymore?

Or is the whole fricking county got fricking ADD?

Once again, SOUTER was not anticipated to be replaced during the current or next subsequent Presidential term...

Which means that the same 2-3 SCOTUS Judges are still slated to be replaced in the next 4-8 years...

Therefore the balance of power could without a doubt change radically to the left during the next 4-8 years beginning with Sotomayor IF we allow our Senators to confirm her...

NOT WITHSTANDING THAT ANY RESPECTED AUTHORITY ON THE SECOND AMENDMENT (AND THE CONSTITUTION) STATES WITH NO UNCERTAIN TERMS THAT SHE IS BAD NEWS FOR OUR UNALIENABLE RIGHTS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE "SECOND AMENDMENT"...

So, I have looked over the above links, many of them I had already read [yes, I can read :) ] What we are debating here is not wether or not she is anti gun/ anti second amendment, but wether or not she is "Exponentially worse" (your words) than Souter. On gun control issues, based on past records, they will vote in a similar way.
Also, please be careful in your words. We must use reason, facts, and logic to support our positions, and not attack the personalities of our opponents, or we will look like, and probably be just as guilty, as the press when they went after Pres Bush and Gov Pallin.

I will take the opinion of her anti-constitutional record vs. Souter's and the word of the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, Second Amendment Foundation, David Kopel, and other EXPERTS on the potential impact of a LIFETIME APPOINTMENT OF SOTOMAYOR as being a bad idea in no uncertain terms, and not to be discounted lightly...

IF we as a country do not wake up and see the writing on the walls, and take a Proactive approach, vs. a Reactive approach, to the continued assaults on our unalienable rights, such as Gun Ban Obama & Company's attempt to ramrod Sotomayor through the Senate, like the rest of the Unprecedented Usurpation's and Constitutional Infringements of this Administration, then we most certainly deserve the loss of said freedoms...

We must demand in no uncertain terms that our Senators DO NOT CONFIRM SOTOMAYOR!
