national parks and monuments

I will be travelling this summer and wonder if anyone is aware of the present government views concerning concealed carry.. We will be in several National parks and at the Gateway Arch as well as the Space Needle. We also will be going into and out of Canada. Has anyone sent their handgun to themselves for pick-up at a UPS or Fed-Ex in a city, (not their own city?)

It violates both UPS and Fedex terms of service to ship a handgun to yourself and Federal law requires that you notify them in writing that you are shipping a firearm out-of-state if it is not going to an FFL.

If you get caught carrying a gun into another country, it may be the longest vacation you ever had.

You are allowed to carry at a National Park or Monument as long as you are allowed to carry in the state the National Park or Monument is in and you stay outside of any federal building, such as visitor centers, ranger stations and office buildings. Carrying on an Indian reservation is subject to tribal laws.

A quick search reveals that the Gateway Arch and Space Needle are gun-free zones.

As for shipping a handgun to yourself, it's complicated. There are federal laws, state laws and carrier policies.
