NAA Mini Pug

Ordered one on Saturday will be picking it up tomorrow. I have to admit I really didn't know to much about the 22 mag as a personal defence weapon until I read an article by Chuck Hawk. I originally got the idea of buying the gun because I have a ferocious Pug who punks all of the mini muts in my development. I figure he needs some bite to go along with his bite lol. Anyone out there use it for a back up or main carry peice?

Whats your experience?

Oh yea Obama was right guns and religion are a great mix!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

It is a very good gun. North American Arms customer service is fantastic. I own a NAA mini that is a magnum with a conversion cylinder to 22 Long Rifle and am very well aquaited with NAA product line. There are many holsters also designed for the PUG put out by NAA. NAA makes safe and very reliable guns and I have carried one for many many years either as a primary or BUG. Dont let anybody ridicule these little guns. If you are interested there is a North American Message Board, in otherwards a forum like this one except that it specializes in North American Arms. I will get you the web site adress or you can Google--North American Arms Message Board--and Im sure you will find it. Guns and religion do go together. Always remember the 22 in your pocket means more than the 44 at home. If you have any questions feel free to send me a private message.

Both the .22 and .25 are very much underrated as defensive weapons. They do not have the "stopping power" of larger calibers but in most cases are very effective. Just the show of a weapon is adequate at times and if they continue to attack and you shoot it will stop most. If they continue after being shot multiple times with a .22 then unless your .40 actually inabled them you would have the same problem with a larger caliber. The .22 mag is a good choice that is easily concealed and as has been said much better with you than a .45 at home.

Thanks FN I have a Beretta 25 cal, 21a that saved my life and a few others in thr past. Just the site of a gun is enough to deter a nut.

NAA 'anythings' are great hide-away guns...
I truly hope that you have a safe place to drop the hammer on a round or two of 22 mag in the DARK...
You simply wouldn't believe the report, or more importantly the F L A S H that little 1" Barrel is gonna show
you. If the slug doesn't do the job in an emergency, ya might at least blind any BG momentarily...(yourself too)
I once pulled a Mini Master (4") out back of my house to dispatch a rodent...I was only about 10 feet from a shed on my left side...drew and shot...the 22 mag hits rodents like a boulder, but more importantly, all I heard for the rest of the day in my left ear (reflected report) was a deafening high pitched whine ....BE CAREFUL of this report..in a 1" BBL its gotta be wicked...indoors I cringe to imagine how loud it would be bouncing off of all the walls!
...happy shootin'

I picked it up last night. It is sweet! I love it. I went to walmart to get some ammo they didn't have any. I thought that was strange so I ordered some from midway. The shop where I picked the naa up didn't have any ammo either. The guy said ammo is kinda hard to find.

He also told me that he has yhe same pug, but with a 22L extra cylinder. I think I will look into getting the 22L conversion as well.

Had and carried a NAA mini revolver in .22 mag for years wish I never sold it, gotta buy another.

My wife carries one from time to time when she needs something smaller than her P3AT. Not what you would want in a shoot out, but not something you would want to be shot with either.

My wife has hey eye on it lol. I told her if I get the Ranger breaktop she can have the Pug. Although she carries my Beretta 21 a or my Sig 238 the Pug fits her hand much better. She is 4'11.

I do not understand all this talk of being blinded by a .22 magnum or .357 magnum, etc.. All bullets produce a muzzle flash and in reality they are so brief as not to be a factor in a real gun fight. In Vietnam I fought at least one night a week, sometimes more, with a full automatic M16, M60 and semi auto M1911. I do not remember ever being blinded by any flash to the extent that I could not see the enemy or being made deaf by even mortar/rocket rounds landing nearby. In fact I do not remember if I had a correct sight picture or if my trigger felt creepy, mushy, or other than like a fine wine. I just remember shooting as fast as I could at a horde of VC trying to kill me.

Flash may be a problem if you are trying to shoot 1" groups at a gun range at night but not so much in real gun fights when your target is much larger than a bullseye. As far as the noise goes, so far, only a .45 ACP has made my ears ring until the next moring when fired indoors. 9mm did nothing, not even the homeowner's dog barked. In NAM we were not issued ear protection and I was in the artillery so I was exposed to some very large 175mm artillery guns firing for hours and never once had my ears ring. I doubt that a .22 magnum would do anything to me to put me out of the fight and not a reason not to use it. However, if you can carry one in your pocket or on a belt, you can carry an LCP or similar just as easy and unless you are more concerned with feeling safe than being safe, then make the .22 your primary carry because it excels as making people feel safe just like my BB gun did when I was a child. And to those who talk about facing multiple armed attackers I suggest that no gun will save their butts in that situation. Being faced with with fight hardened criminals without your concern about taking a life or hitting innocent bystands is not something you are going to survive no matter how big your gun is. Do you think that while you are shooting at one of them the rest are going to be waiting to shoot. The good guy running through a hail of bullets that miss him while his always hit the bad guys is the stuff movies are made of. Does not happen like that in real life. Just saying.
