NM security official tries to take gun on flight

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Albuquerque airport officials say the second-in-command of New Mexico's domestic security agency was caught trying to bring a loaded gun through a security checkpoint.

State Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Anita Tallarico told Albuquerque Sunport police that she forgot to leave the weapon at home when TSA agents spotted it in her purse in a scanner Friday.

KOB-TV reports Tallarico told TSA officials she was distraught because she was going to a funeral. She was cited for unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon.

Airport police chief Marshall Katz says he's not sure how a person of Tallarico's position could make such a slip-up, but added that it happens frequently nationwide.

Tallarico's gun was turned over to city police as evidence.

Appears to me that this Anita Tallarico character feels that she's above the law because she's an Official "Gubbament Employee".
Why should she have to comply with 'the rules' like the rest of us peasant taxpayers have to?
That's the problem with the mindset of the majority of these Left Wing Government Fascists nowadays.
They have that "Do as I say, not do as I do" mentality!

Funny. I'll bet if it was a member of this forum that forgot their gun in their purse you would be screaming about the injustice of them losing their gun to the city police and being charged with a crime.

TSA officers found the gun and ammunition magazine, which contained six rounds of ammunition, in the carry-on bag belonging to 43-year-old Robin Kincaid Welch, of Victor, W. Va.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police responded to the checkpoint, confiscated the firearm and cited Welch with a misdemeanor state weapons charge, officials said.
The incident did not affect airport operations, and Welch was able to catch his scheduled his flight to Detroit, officials said.

Both individuals were treated exactly the same. Their firearms were confiscated and they were issued citations for carrying a firearm in an illegal area. They both went on their ways. I don't see a problem. I don't see anyone being treated any more "above the law" than the other.

Ok, that's one case where they were not arrested but I see other incidents that seem similar where they were arrested.

I expect that a majority of civilians will in fact be arrested for this offence. Some just get cited... but most of the stories I see end in arrest.

Im not coming down on her for forgetting, its human. I have worn mine into places I shouldn't accidently. Try to learn from the mistake and move forward.

This begs the question then... Who can take a gun on a plane? Air Marshals and LE only?
 
TSA most likely didn't know her and didn't really care who she was. They see thousands of people every day and a lot with holier-than-thou 'tudes. I'd put money on it that she WASN'T running around flashing ID and making sure everyone knew who she was('except maybe afterwards, though, if she thought it would help). My $$ says she forgot to remove her PD weapon and got busted. Big deal. There are bigger fish to fry than to give this much attention and ghastly indignant disbelief about one person's moment of stupidity.
