My trip to McDonalds

So I just went to McDs to get some grub. I order and drive up and hand the cashier my debit card. She says "Praise the lord." As she sees I'm paying with a card. I say "oh you must be low on change?" She responds "No I don't like dealing with money. I'm bad at getting the change right and people are always complaining I don't give them back the right amount..."
Folks, this is a cashier with a cash register that tells her the amount to give back, she is not doing math in her head. All she has to do is give back the amount the screen says. Also this was not some dumbass teenager, this woman was at least in her late 20s, if not early 30s. This is a perfect reason why minimum wage should stay minimum. This women will have that Dumba$$job until she realizes, "damn, if I'm ever going to make more than $7.25 an hour I better learn how to fing count."

That's pretty terrible. You'd think after doing the math to hand out change for so long something would click in her head. :girl_wacko:

So McDonalds sells stuff people actually consider "grub".

Even my 12 year old grandson has boycotted McDonalds, for about 2 or 3 years now.

Agreed XD, the first mistake was going to Mickey D's. As for the cashier; minimum skill set, minimum hourly wage. Just that plain simple.

I am constantly handing over, as an example, $5.27 for an item that might cost $3.02 because of what is in my billfold (a 5) plus the change I have in my pocket and the change I want back to avoid having pennies. Confuses the heck out of them all the time.

The other day I was at the local grocery and had a bill of $ 16.05. I gave the cashier $ 21.05 expecting a fiver in return. All I got was a confused look from the employee. Stupid is as stupid does.

It saddens me to say that I spent 20+ years having to teach young people how to count money as change for our guests. It amazes me that even with the machine doing the adding/subtracting for them they still can't count.

I have retired and still go to my old restaurant, on my way out one day last week, I paid with my debit card and asked for change, a $20. The girl asked my how I would like it, in jest I said 2-10's & a 5. Yes you guessed correctly she was going to give it to me, when I apologized to her and explained what I said and why. I just felt so bad for the girl. I later e-mailed the general manager and advised him of what happened and apologized to him as well. The power of suggestion is immensely powerful, it is used by short change artistes all the time.
