I guess it's time to head to wally world for a walk about. My wife has been laughing at me for the past few week. (43 days) Trying on clothes, sitting, standing, and asking her "does this shirt make my gun look big." She's an old hand at ccw but I'm a newbie. Always kept a gun in my truck (legal here) but she talked me into getting a permit. This will be my first time to carry in public!

Congrats!! Yeah, the Wally walk is definitely in order! If someone doesn't have a permit, they're not gonna give you a second glance. I never tried to spot anybody until I got mine and I still haven't found anyone. People don't look for "gun people" in Walmart, lord knows there's plenty of circus clowns in there to keep the customers occupied. Good Luck my gun totin' bretheren!!

You worry to much but thats understandable. Just get a nice leather OWB holster with a retention strap. I use a Barsony pancake because it can be worn straight up and down or with a forward cant. With my straight bottom shirts i wear the bottom of the holster doesnt show when i am carrying either my full size 1911 or my Ruger SR40C.I tried a clip on holster but it didnt feel to secure so thats why i just stick with what i use. And dont worry if your gun prints a little bit, most people dont even notice. As you carry more you will become more at ease and pretty soon if your like me, i dont feel right not haveing my Ruger on my belt. Carry safely and here is to hopeing you never have to use it..JMO

Hope you have a lot of money for the many holsters you're about to acquire. I found a holster in my shooting bag that I paid $65.00 for and forgot I had. Congratulations on the CCW.

Haha, Wally world was also the first place I carried concealed (this Tuesday actually). Needed to go pick up ammo for the range later that day. =D

I finally received my CCP in the mail a couple weeks ago. I am heading out of state this weekend to "try it out" lol..
Wish me luck!

I am in Kansas and finally received my CCHL today. I applied April 20 and it is supposed to take up to 90 days to clear here so it was mailed exactly 3 months from application. In the last fiscal year in Kansas, new permit applications were up about 33% higher than last year, which was a record year! Over the last couple of months, there have been an average of 49 new applications per day in Kansas and that does not count renewals. Sure shows a lot of faith in the hope and change brought to us.

Congratulations on receiving yours and enjoy your shopping. I did my shopping in the last couple of months and have a Ruger SR40C as my primary carry on my belt with a backup Ruger LC9 in a pocket holster. I still need to get a magazine pouch to carry extras and will be getting more Hawaiian flower shirts for easy carrying.

Yes, they are cool and comfortable, especially in the hot Kansas summers. And plenty of room to cover OWB or IWB pistols. Besides old geezers like me can get away with dressing up this way.

As far as the bad guys calling me names, I don't have a problem with that. I would just say it "feels cool" and laugh it off. I have never had that problem though as I tend to be very aware of those around me and am looking right at anyone watching me. Tends to get them looking elsewhere as they know I am not an easy target.

Congratulations. I have just received my Georgia Weapons Carry License in the mail and am now shopping for the best deal on the gun that I want. I have been trying out several that are available at the local range and I have fallen in love with the Ruger SR9. Now I just want to find the right holster to wear it with once my gun gets here.

You might want to consider the SR9c which is easier to carry concealed. Congrats, by the way!

Be careful if you go into one of the bathroom stalls, don't forget and leave it behind. This has
happened to people before.

I heard a funny story the other day about a guy who went into a stall in a public restroom who was concerned that someone in the adjoining stall might see his 45 semi auto when he dropped his trousers. So he took it out of the holster and hung it on the coat hook on the back of the stall door. When he had finished his business and had just fastened his belt and holster in place, he reached for his gun. But as he was attempting to retrieve it from it from the hook, it bumped the trigger which caused it to discharge. (Apparently he didn't have the safety on.) And as he didn't have a good grip on it, the guns recoil caused it to bounce up and down repeatedly until it had completely emptied the magazine in the ceiling. It's probably a good thing it happened as he was taking the gun off the hook, because if it had had happened before when he was hanging it up, he'd have probably have ruined his pants right then and there. :haha:
