My Morning

My morning, I had two grandchildren (Boys 4 & 3) up at the crack of dawn wanting to go outside and play, so what does any good grandfather do, shove some cereal down their troths and go outside with them with my coffee and read my latest gun magazine while they play, scream and holler, isn’t that what Saturdays are for?

Yes, Pop-Pop, these are the days you will cherish in time. Especially when they grow up and are too busy for their grandparents.

I maintain you find time for them today, they'll find time for you tomorrow. I have a grandson and his roommate here today and a granddaughter and her family this weekend. Another granddaughter will be stopping by shortly but she has other business in town rather than just coming to see us. All of these young people have come from out of state to see Grandma and I. Every quality minute with a grandkid when they are small will be returned 10 fold when they get older.

When I was in the hospital for cancer surgery and having a pacemaker installed, my eight year old great-grandson was brought to visit me. Nothing would do him but to get in the bed with me and stay hugged up with his Granpa and he stayed there for the whole visit. He is my buddy and, at home, has to sit with me to watch TV or anything else. He and I have developed a bond even closer than with my son and I will cherish it forever. Several beautiful great-granddaughters but nothing near the closeness with him. God has richly blessed me with my family and I am so thankful.

My 7-year-old grandson qualified for his yellow belt in Karate yesterday. Want to see pictures? I took LOTS of 'em! :-)

This is Aiden. I think this is the longest I've ever seen something hold his attention, but he was able to remain quiet and attentive for the better part of an hour before and after his award. We only have daughters, so I really enjoy him!

Grand kids are the best! Very happy for you!

My wife Glinda & I have been married for over 39 years and we know very well how quick time flies when you’re not looking. We try very hard to get all of the grandchildren together whenever possible at our home, to help keep them together as a family unit.
